session beers should be a lot less expensive, for example, this is for a 5gal batch, you would use 10pounds of base malt for 5% beer, for a 9% beer, you would use 19 or 20pounds. Its pretty much half the barley. You also need significantly less hops for the bittering as the abv decreases. Less yeast pitched

Saw it for 12.99 and decided to pass. Even a traditional IPA has to be really good to get me to spring for that.
I paid 2 dollars less than that for a sixer of sucks.

Bought mine for right around $11 in MA. Glad I did. It is my favorite hop profile in a beer that I've had from Stone. Really really tasty. The body could use a little bit of oomph but it is a really drinkable hop bomb with the hoppy burps to match. best flavor profile i've had in a session beer yet.

I'm not a fan of session beers either.

That said, I'm curious about your reasoning that this name is a dick move. I believe they are talking about it being the, "go to," within their own line up of IPAs. I don't think they mean throughout the entire world of IPAs. That would be kind of silly.

Wrong. It's called nooner, it's a session IPA, and it's already available in the 4 way IPA 12 pack. The black IPA is called blindfold, and is also in the 4 way 12 pack.

Picked up a six on Friday. Not bad but F the price. $12. All day is less but I do not like it. Stone is better but no more at that price. Day time is good but when I saw it was $40 a case. Still wAnt to try recreation ale . Nooner was a drain pour for me and that whole mix pack was not great. Sticking with bitter American for now and prima pils

    Enjoy

Wow, I'm surprised at the prices it's going for in some places and I totally understand why it might be a one time buy for some people. $8.99 here in Vegas, a bit more reasonable.

I purchased two singles when this was released. I really enjoyed the first one, but I drank the second tonight and it had a really strong onion flavor. Like two sips and drain pour bad. It has been in my fridge since I bought it, so it should have been okay. Anybody else experience this with this beer? I'm somewhat disappointed because I envisioned myself drinking the chit out of this beer this summer...

I've got a Stone Go To IPA in the fridge that I picked up part of a pick six. Had no idea it's basically a watered down version of their IPA which I picked up as well. Might have to drink them both together to see the difference. I will say the Enjoy By I had last week was quite awesome.

I'm sure I'll try Go To at some point, but I'm not in a big hurry to pick up a 6 pack at $11.99 when Sucks is the same price. Two Brothers Sidekick is usually $9.99 or less, and that's my favorite lower alcohol IPA/APA and definitely a better deal unless Go To greatly exceeds my expectations. These are warm weather beers anyway, and we aren't there yet.

It's pretty darn good and Whole Foods sells it for $9.99 Not cheap but not crazy either.

Some folks are so quick to be underwhelmed by anything that isn't the best thing they've ever had. I imagine them at a friend's house for dinner complaining that his/her meatloaf wasn't as good as the foie gras at the French Laundry. This shit's pretty damn good for what it is.

Finally tried one of these. Not bad at all. Way better than All Day. Aroma was nearly identical to the Zombie Dust I had by its side.

I wouldn't pay the $11.99 I see for a 6-pack in these parts, but I'd definitely consider it if I was looking for something light and saw it at $9.99.

So far, for my palate here's how I'd rank what I've had from best to worst:
    Go To
    Daytime
    Wanderer
    Pop Up
    Hop Rise
    Bikini Beer (hop water)
All Day (I really don't like this beer much - too bitter)
    Nooner (undrinkable)

I have high hopes for Easy Jack.

Stone costs just as much in California as it does on the East Coast, apparently. I'm sure they'll never make it out here, competing against all those other breweries.

    /sarcasm

At 11.99 I'm buying Carton Boat Beer, and I'm totally fine with that.

$10.99 for a 12 pack of All Day here in SoCal, which is why I dropped in for the opinions. Too good to be true, I thought. I am struggling for the positioning here -- Levitation is so session-able with its low alcohol. Anyway, my definition of session is different -- good old Lagunitas IPA is a flavorful session brew for me and my cronies.

I have tried both Stone and Founders on tap and in there respective commercial package offerings. I like both but I think Founders has better staying power. I found Founders to be more "sessionable" and balanced. Stone is a low abv hop bomb, but I expected that.

Stone is $11 per 6-pack locally (IPA and PA are $12), Founders 12 pack was $17. I just saw Founders 15 pack for the same $17 (Centennial IPA 12pk is also $17.)

Looks like a lot Founders is going to be purchased this summer.
