A 6-pack of Sculpin is almost $16 here. Don't know about Stone, I honestly don't see a lot of Stone products in N. Florida (aside from their PA, IPA, and Arrogant Bastard).

Their bottle pricing is odd given that Stone IPA is generally the same price as Smutty or other comparable IPAs when on draft, but meaningfully more expensive in 6/12-pack format. Same goes for Racer 5.

I was fortunate enough to hold a bottle of this tonight, the stone rep came in a local craft store and gave the owner a bottle to try. If I'm lucky I will be tasting it with them in a couple days.

I hope this is accurate. 12 packs are $19.99 here right now.

It is definitely my go to summer beer. Probably one of my favorite beers overall as well.

Same here man. Unless you want a bomber of Stone IPA or PA, any other stone bomber in Long Island is easily 9$ or higher without tax. Usually for a bomber of say, Enjoy By or Ruination, it's around 12.50-13.00 with tax. A six pack of Stone IPA usually runs me around 15.50. Now I only buy Stone when I'm in Rhode Island and stock up. Much, much cheaper.

Eh, drink one less, still don't get the fascination with lower ABV IPA's which by nature of the style are not.

for me, lower ABV usually means more hops, more dry, less sweet. that said, the best IPAs/DIPAs can give me those things at like 8% abv. (shrug)

also, i don't like being drunk.

It's their brewery so they can do whatever the fuck they want. And the only thing that's the same about the IPAs they come out with is that they fall under the style. They are always using different hop variations and other ingredients. If you think it's so easy to run a brewery you are free to open one instead of bitching on BA.

Guys at Terrapin must have big balls then. I buy Recreation ale over other sessions BECAUSE it comes in 12 pack cans.

Here in the east coast this will fail.
Stone is expensive. I used to buy Levitation before All Day came around. Levitation is $10.99 at the very least at every store.
One store manager stopped ordering levitation and pale ale because it just sits there.
This will be no different. I know given the choice between Stone's expensive 4.5% 6 pack or a $16.99 15 pack from founders, it's always founders.
If stone is smart they'd be competitive with prices but I know they won't so who cares.

Yup. Founders gonna clean up on everything when 15 packs come out.
Doesn't Sierra Nevada have a session called Nooner coming out? They're reasonable and can rival founders in prices.

Glad this finally hit Providence! I was able to pick up a 6pk today which was a nice surprise considering I heard the official release wasn't until Monday. For a sessionable IPA it's nice, although I agree the pricing is a little off with some of the Stone stuff.

    It's Noonan, and it's a black IPA

How it tastes is the only thing that is important to me. If it is awesome then I will buy it. Not going for it for either the ABV or price.

Judging from this thread, All Day IPA is the session beer to beat?

Sure, Stone has different IPA's...and many of the small-batch brews are IPA's. With the amount of experimental hop varietals coming out it makes sense. Stone also did a Cherrywood smoked saison for national release (Matt's Burning Rosids) and their spotlight series winner was a Rye Kolsch that will be available all over. I guess to answer your question...the point is this: They have their Stone IPA, Ruination (their double-IPA), Sublimely Self-Righteous (Black IPA), Cali-Belgique (IPA w/ belgian yeast) and Go-To (session IPA). All are quite different. You could also ask why they make so many Ale varieties...Pale, Levitation, Arrogant Bastard, Oaked Arrogant Bastard, Old Guardian Barley Wine, Double Bastard etc...variety in a certain "genre" is a good thing, don't you think? If they had all their IPA's tasting the same i could see why people might be pissed...
