Never got to try it before so I'll be looking out for this batch!

"The prayers of fans of Stone Brewing Co.’s Xocoveza have been answered"

No. No they have not. The fans were petitioning for the Xocoveza we had last year. While I (and many, many others) would love to try this, it is not the same beer. Of course it doesnt really matter for me because it is 12.2%, which means Ohio will not see it.

My favorite beer of 2014. Pretty excited to see they kicked it up a notch. Too bad it is going to be much more limited.

If anyone wants to try batch 1, I've still got one in my fridge and would let it go for something reasonable.

Agreed. This is not Xocoveza, it's a new beer using Xocoveza as the base. As a matter of fact, the label even indicates it's called "Xocoveza Extra Anejo."

I wish the title of this thread had a "sort of" at the end of it.

I don't have many friends, so drinking a 22-ounce bottle by myself is sometimes a large undertaking lol

Or not say "returning" at all.

A more apt thread title would be "Stone Barrel-aged Xocoveza". It's no more Xocoveza than Fyodor's Classic is Stone IRS.

I feel like this is a big middle finger to Ohio with the 12.2% ABV. Or not... but I'm going to choose to believe it is.

    You mean... "Stone" Xocoveza.

This will be impossible to get. While interesting I was really hoping for the orginal to make a return.

Tequila barrels are pretty hard to acquire and especially those that were first use wine barrels, therefore I would assume this will be a fairly limited release. It may not even hit distro and could be a CA only release? Let's hold off on calling this a middle finger to Ohio for now.

Can anyone speak to how well batch 1 bottles are holding up? I just found a bunch at a local bottle shop. I'm a big fan of spiced stouts, but I didn't get a chance to try this one fresh

Had one a few weeks ago - it was great but did seem a bit thin and muted. Still worth grabbing, IMO. I never had it fresh, FYI. We had a '15 Huna right after it and while the Stone XO was good, it wasn't in that ballpark...

Just had one last week and it was the same as the last time i had it 6 months ago. And yes, mouthfeel is a complaint of mine too. Its thin, but flavors are holding strong!

I've loved the 2.0 versions Stone has been doing, so I'm looking forward to this.

Love them or hate them, you cannot accuse them of standing still and not innovating.
