The new growler policy is absurd and has been mentioned time and time again but for me, it's a place close enough to home where I will visit often, their beer so far is excellent and the customer service is awesome. Since it checks those three boxes, sign me up for new glass.

I'm hoping to go check out the new Smuttynose facility at the end of the month and I will definitely make my first visit to Stoneface that day if it happens.

Stop posting about this place....Their IPA is exceptional, the rye and the pale are excellent.....stop posting...its really easy to get a fill and get out of their. Once the word gets out more it will be a sh*tshow like all the other N.E. IPA brewers. I know I'm being selfish and a non-BA but this place is truly a gem right now....I kid of course. All good things must come to an end, I just hope not too soon.

The IPA will be available in bottles soon so that should make it more accessible. It's still so easy for me to get to the brewery though that I'll keep filling the growler.

Yes I was told mid-June for their initial bottles. I'm excited. They have a decent-sized system (think 10 or 15 bbls), and already have a disributor contract. They'll get pretty big in NH quickly.

They already ordered more fermenting tanks to triple their production, they can't keep up with the demand. The Gaslight in Portsmouth will have the IPA on draft all summer.

I had it there a couple weeks ago for $5.50 a pint. Couldn't stop firing them down at that price.

I am equally frustrated with this and am at the point where I refuse to buy any more glassware - to both my detriment and new brewers'. What's worse is that most growler's "deposit" is not that - it's an out right purchase because they don't accept returns. I have sent emails to both the MA and Maine Brewers Guilds to ask them to petition or something to get these ridiculous laws changed but I think if more people start making more noise about this, all the better.

Any idea on the size of the bottles?

Growlers labels are governed by NH law, and as long as the brewery information is on a label and that label is on a growler it's legal. If the growler is embossed with another brewery name, and a label can't cover it, that's another story. It sounds like Blue Lobster found a way to cover an entire growler. Good for them.

I expect changes to this law, with SB257 going to study committee. SB257 would allow off premises retails to fill growlers.

Wow I did not think that bill was still advancing.

I believe it was changed to a study committee. It's coming back.

Following up on an old thread - does anyone know of any Portsmouth restaurants that are likely to have any Stoneface beers on tap for lunch? My wife and I will be passing through on our way to Portland, and while we won't have time for a brewery stop, I was hoping we might be able to grab a pint with lunch at a nearby restaurant.

The Gaslight always seems to have their IPA on tap. The Rusty Hammer has it on and off as well.

BRGR bar and coat of arms are probably safe bets as well.

If you're taking 95 up to Portland, the brewery is literally 3 mins from the Portsmouth traffic circle. I'd highly recommend taking the 10-15 mins to grab bottles and/or growlers. Better yet, after grabbing those have lunch at When Pigs Fly in York. Amazing pizza, charcuterie, and a great mix of beers (sampler boards available!). It offers significantly better food than the other places mentioned (in my opinion). Be sure to stop at Cigarette City in Seabrook NH and 7-eleven in Kittery for a solid selection of NH and ME beers. Both are right off 95.

Thanks for all the input guys - unfortunately a brewery stop is out since we will be passing thru Monday and Wednesday before the brewery opens at 3:00. I'll check out the other spots and see which one makes the most sense for us.
