I'm driving from Monterey to SFO for a late flight back east. Looking for recommendations of where to stop for tastings or a quick pint or two. Still undecided whether I'm taking 101 all the way or Hwy 1 to Santa Cruz and then over to San Jose and up.

What are the can't miss stops?

Sante Adairius Rustic Ales in Capitola will probably be everybody's number 1 suggestion

Yep, SARA hands down is the #1 don't miss stop along the way. As you get to the Bay Area, Ale Arsenal right off the 101 in San Carlos (close to SFO) is a good beer bar that always has good taps.

If you have enough time you could even hit SARA and continue up Highway 1 to 280 and avoid the bay area all together. It's a much prettier drive and not all that much longer depending on the time of day.

If you are into cask beer, Freewheel Brewing is a couple of minutes from SFO in Redwood City

Thanks everyone! I had stopped at SARA on the way down a few days earlier, but that didn't stop me from taking a second visit. Also made the stop at Ale Arsenal (to use the bathroom as much as to get another beer; that West Bay traffic does indeed suck) and tried their house IPA three different ways (straight and two unusual dry-hops). Thanks for the recommendations!
