Which is a better location to store/age my brews (no basement):

    1. Inside Closet - no light, no draft, about 65 degrees
    2. Garage Shelf - minimal light, minimal draft, about 40 degrees

Which is a riskier location for spoiling?

My options without a basement are limited and any advice would be great.

Buying a temp controlled freezer is also out of the question.

    Thanks!

Your garage stays at 40° year 'round in NJ?

As for "minimal light", storing the beer in boxes eliminates that problem (granted the beer **** photo op possibilities aren't as enticing, but I prefer drinking beer to looking at it).

I am talking my immediate situation until I can get a freezer setup. It will probably stay 40 degrees or so until spring and by then i should have a freezer.

If you are not going to provide helpful input, then don't bother providing any at all.

Garage in a box until spring and then low in the closet until you can get your freezer or mini fridge.

I keep mine in a mini fridge. But it's full, so I'm storing my "excess" beer in a wine box in my closet, probably around in the 70s. I think your safe either way, just keep away from light.
