This has never even occurred to me. If I see something that triggers it I might say something but that's not on my mind before I enter

Never thought of asking for anything. But there was one time where a brewery did an in-store tasting. I liked one of them enough to get one of their sixers, and they surprised me by throwing in the brewery's tulip glass. A nice surprise.

It never even occurred to me to ask. Only ever gotten stuff like that when tastings were going on then everything was very readily available and put out for the taking. There's got be one hell of a story behind this thread...

Personally, I don't. There are times that I've been offered stuff, or have earned it via a frequent-buyer card, in which case I'll ask what they have, any interesting glasses or so forth. I will not just walk in and randomly ask for stuff.

Drunks at beer festivals are the worst. Posters, company names on the bunting, the hat on your head, multiple exact brochures, taphandles, keg stickers, anything they see. It's a wierd compulsive dynamic that repeats every time. I cannot stand people that ask for free stuff. It's damned rude.

I never asked for anything like that from a store. Never even thought about it. The most I ask for is to buy a pint glass from my favorite bar if I find one with a cool brewery logo that I like. And sometimes they will also give me stacks of old coasters from tap takeover and promotion nights.

i never ask for anything at my liquor store. I am cool with the owner and I am on first name basis with him so he sometimes gives me stuff out of the blue.

They take handfuls of the same brochure. Sorry for any confusion.

The thought never occurred to me to ask. And now that the thought has occurred to me, I still wouldn't ask anyway. It's panhandling and I do have some semblance of pride.

But I have to ask - does your store frequently receive swag items? If so, what's the nicest thing to come to your store?

Of course they are taking multiple brochures. How else are you going to make it rain?

I wasn't even aware this was a possibility. Ever. Free promo stuff? Is this the same group of people that go to movie theatre dumpsters and fish out movie posters?

Never ask but once I stopped at Craft Beer Outlet in the Philly burbs and spent about $100 and the owner let me grab a non gold glass on the way out. Pretty nice dude.

As I grab my purchase off the counter after paying I always pause, mutter "Damn!" under my breath, turn back to the cashier and I ask if they have a complimentary brewery-logoed churchkey or bottle opener 'cause I'm not going home. They look around, rummage through some old boxes, opener a few drawers, talk to the manager (me: "No problem, I'm running early anyway...") go in the back room and usually come out with something.

I go home and hang it on the wall. The wife says she thinks we're good, but ya never know.

I go to the store for beer!! If I want "swag" I wait til I
At a brewery or a function. I'm just happy to find something new or what I'm looking for so that is my treat or swag.

Uh, Jess? OCD brought on by a lack of opener at the wrong time? :grinning:
