I usually check out Magruders and Rodmans but I was wondering if anyone else had a tip on a store or two that may get in this special/limited release. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers.

This is relevant to my interests. Missed rumpkin and uncle Jacob last year

Can we even definitively say that DC will get these?

Not sure if they get all the Avery special releases but Rodman's had bottles of Odio Equum when it came out.

Awkwardly reanimating this thread to see what is going on with Uncle Jacobs in the DC/NoVa area. Did I miss it completely? Has it come out yet?

It definitely came out, I believe a little before the holidays if memory serves. Haven't seen it anywhere lately, doesn't mean it ain't out there though!

I found Uncle Jacobs sometime in late summer or early fall up at Rodman's. I don't really remember exactly the time. I wish I lived closer to that store.

It just came out again in CO. Probably take awhile to make it out this way.

Ya, it was at Norm's late last year. At ~ $15 a 12oz, I passed. It's amazing, but expensive.

Uncle Jacob's is available at Rodman's as of this morning. I didn't catch the price, but they had several.

There's still a bunch at Westover Market in Arlington. I think they're $20/bottle, but you may want to call to confirm the price.

Uncle Jacob's Stout is $20.99 at Westover Market. As of 8:30PM they still had quite a few bottles on the main display table in the back (as well as some behind the counter).

Never had the Uncle Jacob's. $20+ for a small bottle seems incredibly steep, I only occassionally drop that kind of coin on a big Bruery bottle. Is it really worth it?? Is $20 the regular going price, or is it typical Westover markup?

I've been looking for this beer for a couple of years (Since trying it at Savor in 2012). So at least this once I was willing to pick up a bottle.
But I also think there is definitely some of the usual Westover markup in that price. From what I've heard/read most places you'd see it in the $14-17 range. But then again this is the first time I've ever physically come across it in a store.
I think it's a fantastic beer and it was one of the first beers that really showed me what barrel aging could do.

It's behind the counter at the bar at P Whole Foods for consumption there, or last time I was at Total Wine McClean 2 days ago they had bottles for sale behind the counter.

A supermarket wants you to drink a 15% ABV beer there rather than buy one and take it home? Smart move.

It has to do with the liquor law in DC, the way the license is for that store and their designation, they can't sell beers more than 14% for take away, so this is how they have arranged it currently.

Bought one at Westover this weekend. I probably won't do it again for that price but I'm glad I tried it.
