So I've just recently had the self control to not drink the beer I buy right away. haha I'm just curious how everybody keeps their beer. I've got all my FT beers from the SMABR that I'm gonna hold on to and I've got a BB XXV and an Atrial(I'll be drinking soon as recomended) and plan on adding a lot more.

So far I just have the 5 I have right now if my fridge but now I should keep them there. I'm trying to really "age" them or anything but want to hold on to them for bottle shares, special occasions, etc.

Any advice or examples of how y'all keep y'all's beer would be appreciated. Also I'm posting this here because living in Texas probably makes keeping beer different than keeping it somewhere else not so hot.

I use a temp controller on an upright freezer. Keep temp locked in at 55. Plenty of people here keep their "cellar" in a closet. If you plan on only cellaring for a couple years or so, this is fine. However, if you're wanting to cellar properly for many years, invest in some type of temp control. There are also plenty of wine storage facilities around town as well.

I bought a 21cf fridge on Craigs list for $50. Keep the temp right around 55. Bottles that won't fit in there (its completely full) are kept in a dark closet that rarely gets opened.

3 small fridges in my walk-in closet for the important stuff.
    overflow just in the closet.
main fridge in kitchen for the stuff that's for immediate consumption.

Awesome. Thanks everyone. I'm probably gonna buy a new fridge sometime soon and throw my old one in the garage for beer only. I'm sure there's a way to get some temp control on it. I guess I'll just stick my beer in the closet in a box for now. Or look for something on craigslist.

I have an old fridge in my garage and am curious about this as well. I have no desire for it to be at 34 degrees in summer in my garage as I would be paying a huge bill.

The simplest solution would be purchasing a temperature controller for your fridge or freezer. Chest freezers are relatively cheap, and sometimes you can find upright freezers on CL at a decent price. Personally I'd go for a larger investment upfront and buy the most efficient freezer unit I could afford which would save money overtime and eventually pay for itself compared to an older, inefficient model.

I built one out of a cheap aquarium temperature controller for less than $30. I use it for my chest freezer turned into kegerator
