Nope, cuz he has a 40# container and sacks of grain come in 50#-55# weights. Simple math.

The 40# Vittle Vault is sized to hold 40# of pet food. A pound of grain is a significantly smaller volume than a pound of pet food, so it's not inconceivable that a '40#' Vittle Vault can hold 50# of grain.
That said, I've never verified how much grain a 40# Vittle Vault can hold.

Who says you have to use 10-15 Pounds of grain on 5 Gallons? Feel free to brew a 2-3 Gallon imperial stout...

I also use 5 gallon homer buckets with the regular lids from Home Depot. If you care, Lowes sells 5 gallon "food safe" buckets. I am probably going to switch to the gamma lids because eventually the Home Depot lids crack. I would like some Vittle Vaults, but I can't justify the price.

Another vote for the homer buckets with gamma lids. As stated, each bucket will hold 25#.

Tip: Don't skimp on the gamma lids. The orange lids are CRAP and crack very easily, leaving you headed back to HD for gamma lids. Just buy them the first time.

Ditto. I just keep about 3 sacks (stacked, when needed) in a Tupperware bin. The lid never fits.

I use the sterilite totes, but I don't remove the grain from the sack, the whole sack fits nicely.

another vote for 5 gallon buckets and gamma lids. I've got about a dozen; very happy with them.

    Simple math...indeed if the minimum batch-size is 5Gs. Who uses 10-15# in a batch size < 5Gs?

A bit of an over-generalization IMO.

What does someone's batch size have to do with people asking for opinions and feedback on storing grains?

For context, please allow me to gently suggest you read the thread from the top to understand why it's just a wee bit presumptuous to assume one need only consider storing 40# after using 10-15# on the 1st batch.

He assumed that's what he did. And mike confirmed it.

If someone uses that much for one batch then they know it will work for them. Point is, it doesn't matter what you use for one batch. What if they do 2 batches to use it up to hold it. Wouldn't change that it will fit.

Let me gently suggest you stop trying to argue a point that doesn't matter. If it doesn't work for you, move on.
