I drank one a month from last years batch and thought it feel off meaningfully at six months (I accelerated most of the rest then in month 7/8). I saved one until this years came out. I did a blind tasting of the 2016 and 2017 and as I expected it was't even close with the 2017 being much more flavorful and the 2016 being mediocre. I am drinking all of mine within six months this year.

Interesting find. I am not sure if that is the one that others were referring to. If it is, I certainly did not read that as "Founders suggests it is best fresh." I read that as, "The brewmaster prefers it fresh to aged after having tried both because the coffee flavor is more forward when fresh."

Did a KBS 2008-2016 vert last June. We all loved the years on either side of the spectrum and thought the years in the middle were kind of messy. We were all surprised at how much bourbon and chocolate was still in the 2008 and 2009. 2014 was everybody's least favorite because that just seemed like an off year for it.

Interesting, I like 14 and 15 more than 16. Didn't think 16 melded together all that well.
