I'm enjoying a storm king right now, the first one I've ever had. I know this isn't a whale or anything, but in Seattle it's not that easy to come by, does anyone have any experience with aging this? Would it even age well?

just a general rule of thumb, aging decreases hop bitterness which this one has a lot of. Ive never had one aged but i would think that it would numb down that hop bite which this beer is known for. I actually like it fresh and should try laying some down!

Yeah now that you say that I can totally see that hop bite. I picked up a six pack so I guess I do have one or two to put in the cellar. I'm glad I finally got to try this beer, it's awesome!

This ages pretty well. I actually prefer it with some age versus fresh. It becomes something completely different when it hits the 3 year mark. 5 years max before it takes a decline.

Feel free to send me a message if you're interested in any kind of trade. Living in Seattle means I have access to all kinds of west coast goodies, and I love making trades that are just regional brews that are hard to come by. Trades for whales are fun, but not always worth it.

I just recently picked up some Storm King to cellar with an enjoy by date of MAR 26 2016. Does that mean the bottling date was March 26, 2011?

I believe so. Google fresh beer only, it's a nice site that has a ton of breweries freshness dates and formats. I believe it is a fellow BA that made the site too

If you can get your hands on it, you should try the Victory Dark Intrigue which is a bourbon barrel aged version of it.

Storm King, Old Rasputin and Yeti are my favorite beers to age. They're cheap and they age well in a short period of time.

So far have only aged a bottle for one year, still great, really can't wait to see what more aged does to it.

I think I have 10-12 of these in the cellar...Even at the one year mark there is a measurable improvement. I'd say it's worth holding on to some.

Yes, Victory dates Storm King and Old Horizontal with 5 year dates.
