Stoudt's Barrel Aged Old Abominable

It has not been out for several years now. Some turnover with brewers at Stoudts and the last one i spoke to two years ago said the owners had issue with the cost of barrels and he had no idea if/when it would be brewed again. Apparently since then he has left and a new brewer is there so who knows. Stoudt's has many other streams of revenue and don't seem to get caught up with limited releases and trying to gain hype. They seem to march to their own drum. It wouldn't surprise me to see them brew it and put it out for sale without any fanfare or advertising to push the sales. Their website says "Coming soon Old Abominable", but i found out that it is not their barrel aged version nor do they have any in barrels at this time.

 

I have a non-BA version and a BA version in the cellar.... I got these a LOOONG time ago from DIM.... Not even sure if Dan is still active.

I opened one around Christmas a 2010... Maybe even on Christmas day.... It was quite a hit and had not fallen off yet.... But that was nearly 2 years ago now... and they were probably 2 years old at that point.

If memory serves, Dan said there were only about 400 bottles of the BA version... I got 3x of the BA version from him... and I believe 4x of the regular version.

 

The non BA old abominable should be out in about a month according to the staff at Stoudts. I really wish they brew the BA version is brewed again. They def march to their own drum. Popping out 5025 sour quad with minimal advertising. Come on Stoudt's, hear they people? They want some BA Old Abominable!
