    It's hoppin' at BLB!

    My rankings:
    - CW Bourbon Barrel Stout
    - Founders RIS
    - Dark Horse Plead the 5th
    - Odell BA Stout
    - Deschutes Abys
    - Bells Black Note
    - Surly Darkness
    - Great Lakes Blackout Stout

It physically pains me to put Darkness at 7th - I'm dumbfounded, to be honest. I live all of them, lol...

Anyone not at BLB - big loss...

7 bucks for generous pours of darkness and black note. 6 bucks for abyss. Not terribly crowded.

Sweet line up!! , I'm not going to BLB but we are drinking Rare and Vanilla bean DL chilling to follow, all from a good buddy from Chi town. So not a loss not going to BLB.

Seem like they'll have enough to make it through the night? Thinking of heading over after a kickball game.

U sure it was the BW? I thought it was. I loved it, but could not figure it out?

Pretty damn sure. The CW BBS is like KBS jr. To me, and this was not it. Had to be the barleywine.

I am pretty sure the Central Waters was the BBBW.

Ordered the Midwest but delivered the rest... No worries though I've only tried 1 from each flight previously.

Started with Pt5 since it was the only one I had previously, it was even better than I remembered glad I still have a couple bottles that I'll have to open soon.

Next moved to Black Out which I felt fell flat in comparison to Pt5, maybe my expectations were to high but was my biggest disappointment of the rest.

Then moved on to Odell's BBS, which I really enjoyed. Definite upgrade over the first two very solid beer from Odells.

Finailly moved on to Abyss, high expectations a little taken aback at first sip but not in a bad way, defiantly grew on me and ended as my fav of the night.

Hopefully I run into Darkness and Black Note later in the week

Just got back from BLB, good turnout. I was most impressed by Black Note. I haven't had that for a while. The most underwhelming for me was definitely the Blackout. It's a good beer on its own but struggled against the other world class stouts.

I've not had either the BBBW or BBS, so I have no comparison, but I was saying all night that it seemed much more like a barleywine than a stout. Friggin' delicious, though...

Awesome night last night, this was a great event. A bit of a cluster F at 6:30, but the wait staff did a great job getting beers out as fast and as thorough as possible. This calmed down around 7:30-8 when all the beer snobs relaxed and got their flights.

    My rankings:
    - Founders RIS (it was so smokey and roasty compared to the others, i think that's why it stood out in this bunch for me)
    - Dark Horse Plead the 5th
    - Bells Black Note
    - Deschutes Abys
    - Odell BA Stout
    - Surly Darkness
    - Great Lakes Blackout Stout
    - CW BBBW (simply because it was the BW - on it's own, it's one of my favs)

Pretty sure the Central Waters offering last night was neither the Barrel-Aged Barleywine nor the Barrel-Aged Stout - it was the barrel-aged version of this:

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/652/76091

It makes sense when you think about the profile, as BBBL Barleywine has sooooo much booze on the end, and this was more subtle. Also La Petite Mort doesn't have the hop profile of the Barleywine, and the hops on this were subtle as well.

Thanks for the clarification on the Central Waters. Never had La Petitie Mort, so that is cool. It was great, just so different from the others.
