Stout Fest 2015 - GI Clybourn

MBA Pre-sale sold out in a matter of seconds.

Seems like the password was shared... despicable.

 

Kind of surprised it took until 30 minutes before the pre-sale for this post to get started. Good luck to the rest of you. Glad its back at Clybourn this year as opposed to them renting space for it. Let's just hope they don't put the BCS in the corner this year.

So I've never been. Is it worth going or is it a clusterfuck like some other beer events?

 

I have no doubt of this, but it probably didn't matter much. I would guess that in the past 2 years the MBA membership has grown considerably, and it is only going to continue to grow faster. It'll probably be the same amount of tickets held back for MBA members for every event, while more people will be trying to get those tickets.

It is definitely crowded, as it sells out like most good beer events. However you really cannot compare previous years to this with the venue change.

 

They should cross reference the presale ticket name with the MBA member list and only allow one purchase (not saying one ticket, but one purchase) per member.

 

I went last year and it is well run IMO. You will get to try some samples of different BCS and other solid stouts. The only issue I have with it is I got major palate fatigue after about an hour. I love stouts but after a while my tastebuds were shot.

Right, but Wrigleyville is closed now. They moved it there because of the construction at Clybourn at the time. I was saying I'm glad they are going back to Clybourn instead of making it a bigger event at a different location. And my BCS comment was because in '13, they had it in the front corner and created a clusterfuck in that area. Hopefully now that they are using the entire brewpub, they can dedicate a larger space for the BCS/GI Brewpub tables since that is what typically creates the biggest crowd.

 

Same here. Stout fest is too stouty. I had to leave like 90 min early the only time I went (2 years ago).

They definitely need a couple sours, maybe some of the sisters.

 

Initially said sold out, a couple refreshes later tickets available. Now here's to hoping Vainglorious makes a return, my all time fav Goose Island!!

You're welcome. Had 2 in my cart, got to check out screen, saw $97, was like naaaah.... even I can't drink that much Prop to make it worth it. Have fun.
