I want to have a tasting for friends, and want to be sure to select and sequence properly so that we can enjoy the ones we open, and not lose any of the unique nuances that each of the rarer ones have. I can have more than one day/event/tasting, and assume that some of the more hard to find ones should be the first beer of the day? I have pulled these from the cellar, but probably have others I haven't considered as well...

Also, should we use an IPA, water, or (gasp) BMC to cleanse between items?

Also, I have '12 BCBS on the way, which could be added as well...

Probably hosting a total of 6 people, so 2-4 oz of each, depending on size of bottle.

    Thoughts?

Whatever you do... Creme Brulee goes LAST.

EDIT: CBS is probably a good first choice since many of the maple flavors have probably fallen off quite a bit by now.

You have a massive amount of sweet stouts, I would try to limit those and/or have savory options in between. I also found the Eclipse 50/50 (and other stouts like it to) changes so nicely once it has been brought to room temperature, so showing off that sort of tasting to n00bs is cool too. I'd prefer to go in with a known dry, simple stout and then have a rare one to compare it to.

I have been waiting to try the CBS, and agree on that one first. The Creme Brulee was thrown in because I found it on the back of the shelf... too sweet for me usually. Bought a few when we served Creme Brulee after a dinner, and we only drank one of them.

I also have DORIS, Old Rasputin, Old Rasputin XV, and regular Pt5.

I would just use the Creme Brulee as a mixer for any of the above stouts you don't care for. On it's own just a little too much, but add a little to any stout or porter it becomes liquid gold for me. Always have several bottles of it in my fridge and so far FBS and Stone Smoked Porter with Creme Brulee added has always been a hit at my house with friends and family.

also: I have still not received my invite to said tasting, and will just assume it was an issue with the post office (THIS IS WHY THEY ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS). Do you want to send it again, or should I just lurk around your house until I see a bunch of people showing up?

I would put KBS and CBS back to back. Brooklyn BCS (much better) next to SamSmith. GLakes next to Exped next BNote. Creme Brulee last.

I never thought of mixing them. Always enjoyed them in their pure, native form. I like the idea.
