I'm taking a trip to Stratton Mountain for some skiing this coming weekend. Looking for bottle shops with a good selection. I know muelemans craft draughts is right near there and they have a pretty good selection. I have no problem driving a little out of the way (won't make the 3+ hour drive up to hill farmstead and alchemist tho). Any suggestions? I'll
Be coming in from NYC so stops along the way are an option as well.
    Cheers

When I'm doing that route (using I-84 & I-91) I like to stop at Table & Vine just outside Springfield, MA. Easy on & off from the highway, and the place is ginormous! Also, Ryan & Casey's Liquors in Greenfield, MA is smaller but good selection of stuff (that we don't have in VT, anyway.)

If you are coming up the Thruway Hoosic St Beverage in Troy is on the way and pretty awesome. You also have the great Man of Kent in Hoosick on Rt 9 on the right side just before you cross into VT. If you come through brattleboro The Whetstone usually has Hill Farmstead on tap.

the Grizzly Bar (main lodge upstairs) had Limbo IPA on tap this week. that's the best beer I could find there.

Yeah, Hoosick St has great selection for the area. Man of Kent is decent. Whetstone would be my first choice though.

I live in the Bennington area and do most of my "local" beer shopping at Hoosick St. if I'm trying to get beers not distributed to VT

I'll second OnryAndMean. I too live in Bennington, and Hoosick St has the best selection around. If you come up Rt 7 stop in Bennington at the Bev Den or Outlet. You'll notice the prices are way better in VT. Check out the JJ Hapgood Store in Peru. They have a couple local beers on tap and a pretty interesting but touristy vibe.

I would say the Man of Kent is far better than decent. It gets a 4.42 on this very site.
Hapgoods has beer on tap? Awesome.
The Beverage Den and other liquor store in Bennington have excellent selections. The other place has some great beers on tap- so bring a growler (which I always forget- that and the name of the place).

    Opinions man, they're like assholes

And the other place is the BBO (Bennington Beverage Outlet, not to be confused with the Beverage Den)

And they're one of only a handful stores to sell the Backacre sour (I believe)...which I was happy to score there recently.

Your going to the wrong mountain if you want great beer on site. Had two glasses of draft Bourbon County Brand Stout and two pints of Lunch at the Mount Snow's Tap Room last week.

Can't imagine popping into the lodge for lunch and finding those treats. Was your skiing/riding a little sloppy afterwards?

Also, just to add a few more suggestions in closer proximity to the mountain:

    Manchester Discount Beverage
Meuleman's Craft Drafts - This is about 1 mile from the access road at the rt. 30/100 intersection

I'm coming up this weekend as well to snowboard at Mount Snow/Stratton and staying in Bratt. Wondering what the chances of scoring a case of heady anywhere this weekend is (assuming it's pretty low because of the popularity of this weekend)

You would have to drive two hours north up to Montpelier and Saturday is iffy from what I have heard. Your best bet is Hill Farmstead at the Whetstone and whatever choices you have at the Tap Room at Mount Snow. I promise I will try to leave you the BCBS that is left, cannot be much.
Hill Farmstead, at about 8 bucks a pint at the Whetstone is a bargain when you consider the time and money you save not driving to the brewery.

Yeah, I'm definitely grabbing some HF at the Whetstone at dinner Saturday night. Might just give the COOP a call right after I'm done on the mountain and see if there's a shot. If not I'll drown my sorrows in Everett all night.
