Stratton VT

Whetstone is not guaranteed to get HF, though they usually have it. COOP seems to have stopped carrying Maine
Beer Co, but they have plenty of Lagunitas- well worth the stop.

 

So I'm going to be in VT at Stratton mountain March 7-9 and would like some recommendations as to what to look out for while I'm hitting local liquor stores. I'm not yet at the age nor the financial state where I can make epic beer trips so I would like to make the most of this opportunity.

Please try and stay local with suggestions as I am going with a friends family and will not be asking them to drive me anywhere extreme (i.e. I will be 2-3 hours from the alchemist but will certainly not be asking anyone to make that trip for me).

The Manchester Beverage Depot has some great beers. Usually have MBC at a reasonable price. There is also Lost Nation, etc. Friend them on Facebook and see what they have available. They will even send you email updates if you wish. Besides that, it's either drive to Mount Snow or the OK selection at Stratton.

and if Keith is tending bar, you can say that rumor has it that he is the best hockey tender in the area...may get you a free drink It's a great group of bar tenders there, cherry picked from other local bars. Believe they have Heady cans there...

The girl and I are at Stratton for the weekend. Stopped at the Brattleboro Food Coop last night (that downtown is a cluster to navigate) and found a decent selection of VT craft. We grabbed some Otter Creek Backseat, Lost Nation Mosaic IPA, and Rock Art Twin Tip Double IPA.

Haven't hit Firetower yet, but they typically have a decent tap list. We hit a new bar in Stratton village last night called "The 802." Cozy hangout attached to Village Pizza and good bar food (looks to be an upgrade from Mulligans) with six rotating taps. The kegs are all sixtels so they move quickly. We didn't catch a great lineup last night (Harpoon UFO, Shipyard Punkin, Von Trapp Bohemian Pilsner, Citizen Cider, Switchback Extra Pale, Otter Creek Over Easy), but the 14th Star Tribute is on deck so will be making a return visit at some point this weekend.

 

Mount Snow blows that line-up away. Rarely seen European beers and Hill Farmstead at the summit.
