Strong Ale Fest 2014

I'll be there on Saturday. Just can't make that drive Friday night

 

Glad this thread popped up when it did and not an hour before tickets went on sale. . . .BUT I got mine, see everyone Saturday!

 

Just picked up my Saturday tickets. I was at Avery last weekend and they didn't have a clue what breweries were going to be there yet. Any rumors yet?

 

Im sure it will be amazing like always. First time back in two years, so glad I don't have a work conflict this time around.

If my memory serves me correct though, this isn't an event with alot of well-known, high-demand beers (except for Pliney). I recommend going for what sounds good to your palate regardless of brewery name or how in-demand it is. There were some gems last year.

Rackhouse has a bus going to/from the event. As you might guess, this isn't an event you want to drive home from.

Was this $50 last year? I'm unfortunately going to have to pass this year. I have to trim down my beer festival expenses and there are other festivals that I'd rather go to. I'm jealous though.

 

You're thinking of sour fest. Strong ale usually lasts a bit longer due to two days.

That, and sour beer is just so hot right now

While I agree it isnt a "WOW" lineup usually.....I always look for the gems that Avery serves during the event.

Coming in from Salt Lake to check it out. We have Friday & Saturday tix. What's the basic drill?

 

Tickets are still available. Avery's IPA Fest took over a month to sell out.

 

Eat something greasy beforehand. Don't wait to try anything you're really excited about. That's not as big a deal since you're going both nights.

 

The only thing I've seen is the brewery list on Avery's facebook page.

I just talked to Jess, who has been accumulating SAF beers. She said she would be posting a preliminary list to Facebook any minute here. I'd try to post it in some fashion, but I'd most likely accidentally do it in the most awkward way possible. So check the ol' FB and it should be up soon.

Unfortunately, I'm going to be missing my first SAF ever. Fortunately it's because I'll be skiing. Could be worse, I suppose.
