Sorry, but this is bullshit, too. Even the legendary Absinthe, which was once said to have psychoactive properties and was even banned in the US as a result, is intoxicating because of nothing more than it's high percentage of alcohol according to recent studies.

We're talking absorption rates here, and little else. Remember, you'll get more buzzed drinking on a stomach full of carbs than you will a gut full of protein because of how each food effects the rate at which the alcohol enters your bloodstream.

So, I just wanna say, the other day I finished off a sixer of Lagunitas Undercover. Now, I thought this was just one of those unusual days where you can drink 2 or 3 times the normal amount to achieve the usual desired effects. That happens to y'all every now and then right? I cant explain it but it happens occasionally where the alcohol just doesnt seem to hit me. Anyway, tonight Im on #5 of another Lagunitas Undercover sixer, and Ill definately finish the sixer. But now Im starting to think there is no way this beer is 9.8%abv. I mean, generally I have 3 10%ish beers and Im good for the night. Anyone else noticed this going on with this beer this year?

I had PtE and Sculpin one night and was fine. The next night I drank one Blind Pig and was really buzzed! I'm sure it had to do with something other than the ABV but it was kind of funny.

There are a couple that do it for me, heady topper and deviant dales for sure though. Maybe its all the hops? Seems to always be IPAs that I get it from.

For me its Sucaba! I mean it's only 12.5% ABV but every time I have one I feel like I drank two Parabolas and I start drunk texting people! I love it though, best buzz in the craft-beer industry!

Well legally speaking, an 8% ABV ale could be 8.3% and still retain the original 8% label. Additionally, re-fermented and bottle conditioned beers tend to be higher in abv than what's claimed on the bottle. Especially if they have been aged for a 6 months or more.

Golden Monkey. It has weird powers. I think I'm the only one of my friends who hasn't puked from drinking it.
