Went to the shop tonight and they had bottles of Struise 2011 Tsjeeses Reserva on the shelf, along with a little white card that read "are you kidding me?!" So yea, I grabbed one.

Does anyone know how the reserva differs from the regular Tsjeeses?

It's barrel-aged. Depending on the label, it could be oak, bourbon, or port barrels.

Hmm...can't see anything on the label that would say, but it's pink and blue with "TSJ 11" in the top corner.

The 11 isn't a vintage - it merely denotes that it's the 11th beer ever made by De Struise.

To determine the vintage you need to consult the best before date. I believe the vintage will either be 4 or 5 years ahead of the BB Date. Depending on whether it's a 2012 or pre-2012 bottle will determine whether its Bourbon or unspecified 'oak barrels'.

Edit: If the best before is 26-12-2017, it is this year's Bourbon version. If it is something else it's from 2011 or earlier.

The left side of the label actually says though "Tsjeeses Reserva 2011." Not BB date that I can see; "Lot 231107062011" and " Bottle Lot 25|G|GG. Thoughts?

Had a few of these, never been too impressed with them. Malty and stuffy, pretty dull. They just released 75 cl bottles of it yesterday, if anyone wants any through a trade, hook us up with a BM

There seems to be some difference between bottles from Europe and those that came through Shelton Bros. I'm fairly certain that this is the new one though. The 2011 denotes the vintage of the base beer, even though the Reserva is released in 2012.

I also picked up a bottle earlier this week...mine was $10.99 tho *eek*. Very curious as to what its like.

Also, no BB date and does say 2011 on it...so I'm going to say it is a 2011 vintage

    Alright - did some research:

Tsjeeses Reserva Bourbon - Pink & Purple label
European label: BB 26-12-2017 (you'll have this if you bought it in Europe or from Etre Gourmet, etc.)
American label: Should say Tsjeeses Reserva 2011.

Tsjeeses Reserva (2010 & earlier - unspecified oak barrels) - Pink & Purple label
There are a few vintages and depending on where you bought your bottle geographically there are a number of codes. The two most common are:
    Lot C - 8 - 10
    Lot B - BB 12/12/2012

    Alright, quick question..

Every time I see this beer, the character on the label is wearing sunglasses, yet on my bottles, he's drunk & stoned.

    Here's some pics;

This looks like the 2010 vintage. The BB is usually 5 years from bottling, so this was bottled in June 2011 meaning it was the 2010 vintage of Tsjeeses that was aged on oak for 6 months.

    Pannepot: The base quad
Pannepeut/Old Monk's ale: Originally made for Olbutikken. Not sure what actually sets it apart, other than it's "Danish style."
Reserve: Aged in oak barrels, unspecified
Grand Reserve: The reserve aged in Calvados barrels
    Special Reserve: Port Barrels
Wild: Two wine barrels with souring yeast.

    Pannepot is the original beer.
Pannepeut is a different recipe that was originally for Ølbutikken - less spices. It was originally called Pannepøt, but that led to mass confusion in inventory systems not equipped to handle foreign characters (and ignorant/less-discerning customers and store owners).
Pannepot Reserva is Pannepot aged in wine barrels (possibly second or third use bourbon too).
Pannepot Grand Reserva is aged further in Calvados barrels.
Pannepot Special Reserva was aged in port barrels.
Pannepot Wild was exposed to wild yeast.

Blast - Your bottle is the same as mine in front, but different completely on the right side. I think MasterSki is on point with his description.

Goddamn that beer I just drank was delicious. Time now for a $5.99 750 of Stilllwater Autumnal. Beer shop is killing it tonight.
