I live in Denver and have drank craft beer for about 3 years. I feel like everytime I get beer I get the usual suspects. Odells, Oskar Blues, Epic, Upslope, Left Hand, blah blah blah. Those are all really great beers but I want to mix it up. I dont want something crazy that all the hipsters rave about. I just want a couple suggestions that are fairly easy to find in Denver. I like all styles so thats not important. If you guys could recommend a few different beers that would be fantastic!!!

Are you looking for CO. Beers specifically? Hit the right bottle shop and there are so many options for stuff from all over the country/world.

Tropic King is from Funkwerks, but regardless, if you are looking to mix it up they make great Belgian-style beers. Their Saison is awesome as is the Provincial which is a Berliner.

Take a cruise up 25 to Boulder and/or Fort Collins and see whats available up there. I had my first Pliny in FoCo if I recall. Also, I want to agree with Draheim. Try a Belgian or 2. They are a little different to say the least.

There are also little breweries all along the drive from Denver to Aspen, each with their own unique flair.

Definitely Crooked Stave, Funkwerks, Odyssey in Arvada. I really enjoyed myself at TRVE downtown. Unless you really hate Metal.

To the OP: Don't take I-25 to Boulder. It doesn't go there. The way to Buolder is the Denver-Boulder Turnpike or 36. However, 25 does go to Ft. Collins.
Before you go, do some research on your own. That way, you get to see what's available and where.

    *Odell! (sorry, big pet peeve).

Anyhow, OP, there are endless options in Denver. Head to Falling Rock, Freshcraft, Euclid Hall, etc and tell your server to surprise you (giving them the same stipulations). Head to Argonaut or Mr. B's and raise the same question to them - in my experience the employees at Mr. B's are very knowledgeable.

Of course, like already mentioned, there are plenty of other CO breweries doing great things right now far and away removed from the ones you mentioned. Crooked Stave, TRVE, Trinity, Funkwerks, and Three Barrels are all doing saisons/sours that are very interesting and worth trying.

    Thanks for weighing in.

To the OP, why not try something from outside of CO? Surely you have some other great NW beers available.

No, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn once. No joke. I was in Denver for business and spent the night destroying as much of Denver's beer scene as my liver could handle. I loved every second of my visit. Wish I could do it more often. Flew home with $300 dollars of beer.

Elevation 7437, Fanboy, False Summit, Oil Man...actually, most things from Elevation are great, give them a try. Bull & Bush has some bottled offerings that are a great if you are into barrel aged stuff (CBC is really good, can get it at Grapevine and Mile High).

I think the best suggestion was those telling you to hit a good bottle shop and ask for some recommendations, strike up a conversation, the good ones are more than happy to give you ideas and help.

If I lived in Denver, I'd be drinking a lot of Prost. I've had the Pils and the kolsch on tap recently, and shit they were good.

I'd pass on paradox, though. The one beer I tried from them recently pretty much killed my curiosity in their beers.
