So I'm visiting my dad in Douglasville until Wednesday morning and am in dire need of some bottles to take back with me. I don't want to venture too far away (past 285) - can someone help me out?
I'd recommend getting some Georgia brews while you're nearby. Can't really go wrong with anything from Creature Comforts, Burnt Hickory, and Orpheus for sure. Sweetwater Johnny Hash may or may not be available in bottles yet but that's solid too. Also Asheville breweries are pretty good too although most aren't quite as good as they seem to think they are, in my opinion.
I would make the drive to Hop Coty on the Westside. Probably 30-40min from Douglasville depending on traffic. You will not be disappointed.
Cherie Armand wine shop in Villa Rica (exit 26, Publix shopping center) has a selection that includes local (like Burnt Hickory, Orpheus) and a smattering of good non-local (Prairie, Evil Twin, etc). Four or five taps for growlers and usually all but one is local. They're closed Mondays. And there's a couple of regular bottle shops off Hwy 5 -- Arbor Place Beverage and another place south on Hwy 5 just past Rose Ave. Neither has great turnover, so watch for shelf turds. If you're willing to drive to west Midtown, Hop City is your best bet.
Nothing there. Maybe arbor beverage. Doesn't expect help. Don't expect gems. Don't buy anything hoppy without a date or if it's not tropicalia. Otherwise you can get southbound to Newnan to ace beer and get the locals and someone they goodies. 20-30 taps I think to choose from too.
That sucks, i figured where he's asking its only a little over an hour's drive away. That it would be no problem getting them.
We get Highland. Nothing else. French Broad was supported well until Carlaken was bought out by Atlanta Beverage, who then dropped half the portfolio.
If you're going to the game two stores that are much closer are My Friend's Growler Shop (they sell bottles as well) on Memorial (about 1 mile from the stadium) and Hop City Krog Street Market (about 3 miles from the stadium).
No problem. I highly recommend My Friend's Growler Shop. Live down the street and shop there frequently. Know the owners and can attest that they are really good guys and have very reasonable prices.
