so thinking of finally taking a trip up there in the next month or so from western ct (danbury area). along the route or close detour, what are some good spots? any other breweries, bars with good taps, even just good food worth a stop, and/or a liquor store with a unique selection. discuss.
BT's Smokehouse in Sturbridge is one of the better places for food. It's a southern style BBQ joint and it's BYOB so you can get your Tree House beer and drink it there. Also, down the street from BT's is Yankee Spirits which has a large selection of craft beers. That's all I got.
Seconding BT's. Honestly, worth the trip on its own. I made the mistake of going there before Treehouse instead of after. That shall change next time.
Big fan of Cedar Street Grille in Sturbridge as well. A little more up scale, but always had good beer and really good food. BTs is the way to go for something quick.
The TH guys and gal usually recommend a couple good places in Sturbridge. I've only been to BT's (which is great!) but they also speak of a good sushi place and an italian place. Jay, Damian or Dean will hook you up with the 411
Thats all you need right there, but other places to eat in Sturbridge are: Kaizen: Sushi Enrico's: Pizza Cedar St: American But BT's has the best tap list because it is BYOB.
bt's looks sweet. so does cedar street. chorizo mac and cheese, what! lol west hartford is pretty stacked with solid stuff - but just looking for new ideas. thanks guys.
Stop at J.Tims in Plainville if you've never been there. Great tap list and the "dirt" wings won 2nd place in a national competition.
Stop at Rapscallion Brewing, good beers with an awesome tasting room. Only like 15 minutes away from Tree House, 5 minutes from BTs.
had dirt before. they're awesome. I know that/middletown/west hartford food decently. gone there a bunch past few years. thanks guys. cheers. keep em comin'!
Rapscallion tap room in Sturbridge (former Pioneer Brewing spot) may be worth a try. Haven't been since Pioneer moved out. Great spot on an apple orchard with disc golf if you're that kind of hippie. Bentley Brewing (I am not affiliated, but I like the name!) in Southbridge is a brewpub with a nice atmosphere. They're under new ownership since I've been and the IPA of theirs I recently found in a bomber was not boundary-pushing but very solid.
Gotta' disagree with Cedar St. Nothing upscale except the prices, lame taplist. BT's IS the way to go. And, as Jomobono noted, Friendly's isn't a bad choice.
Order the Crazy Dates if you go, so good. BTs is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. Could always eat at one place then get some bbq to go from BTs.
There are two options, depending on the Tree House line. 1. Get growlers and drink them at BT's. 2. Put in your order, get beers at Yankee, drink them at BT's, pick up growlers.
