Walked in a beer store to find two insanely dusty 4-packs of 2011 KBS for 22 bucks a pack. Picked those up and the next day I found another dusty 4-pack of 2011 KBS right next to Harvest Ale they just got in.

Another one was trumping the beer dicks at a grocery store and finding a case of PsuedoSue hidden behind some Busch Light and a Keg. They weren't happy when I walked up with that.

Scored my first bottle of Madame Rose this way. I work all over and use the beermenus to check locals when I'm in a new area. Well this store was showing bcbs and 2yr old expedition stout in stock but when I arrived it ended up being a very low end party store with a decent craft selection but nothing like they had listed. When I asked the guy about the ones he listed, he admitted he's not that computer savvy and entered some by mistake and has no idea how to clear stuff off his list...then he started bitching about how the stores around him get the good allotments cause they play golf with the distro rep. So I'm about to leave when I notice right in front of me on a cig display on the counter is one bottle of Madame Rose! I grab it and ask if he had any more? Nope, just the one the rep gave them as a "favor" they were shocked it sold for $20, thought they'd have to sit on it.....this was basically a trailer park party store. You never know.

Not to speak for all of Boston here, but I've stated in other threads that BCBS is still around in the area. I'm doing my best to buy it all but there's competition for my beer dollars. I wouldn't mind some Terrapin Imperial Pumpkin Porter though, if there's any around and you happen to be thirsting for more BCBS.

A couple months ago I walked into my towns general store. Not sure how I didn't see it before but in the corner there was a dusty bottle of Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout. It was from 2011/'12 so I said what the hell and brought it up to the register to pay for it. Was expected the owner to say $4 bit to my surprise he said "wow, that's an old one. You sure you want it?" I said yeah "yeah sure, I'll give it a shot". Then he just said go ahead and have it. No charge!
Free beer is awesome but free beer that is at this quality is freakin' awesome!!!

I ran into some 2013 Big Sky Ivan the Terrible in Bellingham. A local beer guy at one of the stores I shop said he had stopped in at the brewery and found the 2013 case sitting in the corner. Good score.

Eclipse is on the discount rack here in California as well. it simply does not sell due to the ridiculously high price of 30-50$ per bottle.

Big Bad Baptist was 12$ per bottle and better than any Eclipse variant.

Actually, yeah. Visiting friends in Vermont about a year ago. As we're about to hit the highway MY WIFE says. "let's go see the place that supposed to have the best beer in the world."

"Nah, I'm tired of driving, let's go home"

"It's only an hour and we don't have to be home tomorrow. Let's have an adventure"

Waited in line at the brewery for less than 15 minutes.

    True story.

Stumbled upon a couple of bottles of Mikkeller Beer Geek Vanilla Shake at my local bottle shop. Not anywhere near the shelf with the rest of the Mikkeller/European beers - they were over near the vintage wine section. Not sure if someone was trying to hide them or if an employee just never got around to actually putting them on the proper shelf. Good thing I usually wander around the store for 15-20 minutes every time I go, otherwise I'd never found these gems.

I was on the Total Wine website, and have it set to my local store. It showed that Midnight Sun Berserker was in stock. I thought it must be for the current year, so I went down to pick up a bottle. I asked the guy and he had to check the stock computer. He then said that he had to ask the manager to "go get the key for the vault". They came back with last years version, which is fine by me. I just thought it weird that it was stored in the vault. I now realize that every store seems to want to hide the special releases from the buying public. They have them behind the counter; in the coolers for the growler taps; in the back room. Also, all seem to have some sort of special handshake that is required to even view a bottle.

You're not. But my wife doesn't bother asking since she already knows the answer.
