I don't brew seasonally at all. I just brew what I feel like at the time. Fermentation temp control is a wonderful thing.

Do you ALWAYS get your Lederhosen in a twist when someone says something about beer you don't like?

That sounds delicious. You can call it Dunkel Fester.

Properly fitted lederhosen don't get twisted. It's a big part of their appeal. But you probably already knew that.

I did not know that. Good to know. Thanks, I guess...

In that case, you should call the exterminator (<---link) because the bug up your bum needs some proper attention.

    Two caveats:

    - I don't brew alts in the middle of the summer because cooling takes an extra half hour and I'm impatient

    - I try to have a mild ready for the start of hockey season since my consumption frequency and volume tends to spike

^I tend to brew stronger beer for cooler weather and light beers for summer, since like most people I drink more volume in hot weather.
Nothing to do with style or color though, I love a dark mild in summer or a strong saison in winter.

Hockey and beer go well together. Are you a Bears fan?

I usually do some lagered beer like Kolsch or Pils in the early spring to break out later. Not on track for having one this year. I also have been brewing petite saison or trappist single in the summer for a few years running.
And APAs and IPAs. And I don't let the season stop me from brewing dark ales.

I brew with an eye to seasonal drinking, to an extent. Porters, stouts, and barleywines are cold weather beers for me. Hefes are warmbweather. American pales/ipas, mid to low gravity English styles, and pretty much all lagers are year-round drinkers for me.

I'm an imperial stout/bock drinker by winter, and saison/IPA in the warmer weather. Other styles in between, but really, whatever sounds good. If I want an imperial stout to be ready by winter then I better get started brewing it in the summer. It can be tough to brew a beer that looks like crude oil in 90 degree weather.. and now that I think of it, a berliner weisse is probably my favorite summer beer. Also one of the beers with the least amount of work to brew, IMO

...I'm also really enjoying DunkelFester and BrewBetty's back and forth rants  ^^^^

It was Friday and I just got back from a back waxing session, so I was feeling surly. A few beers later, I realized this is the perfect season to brew an Exotic Fruit beer and got pissed because I remembered I had to cancel the Exotic Fruit Beer Festival last year due to lack of community participation. Then Krusty was subliminally pushing my buttons. That was the straw that broke the camel's back! Then I lashed out at the first possible opportunity. Sorry...not sorry.

I don't have ferm temp control, so I brew what the ambient temp in the apartment lets me, with an eye towards when I'll drink it. Basically, I brew IPAs/hoppy APAs fall through spring, Stouts/Porters/various and sundry English ales and big Belgians in winter, smaller "sessionable" Belgians and the odd weizen fall and spring, and variations on saison during the summer. A few ciders late fall; mead when I have money, want to brew, and no beers I really am itching to brew (mods can edit this last sentence instead of deleting the post).
I'll drink a hoppy beer anytime, so I brew quite a bit of them while temps are friendly. The stouts/porters and old ales/barleywines/etc. are looking towards the next winter, unless it's a low gravity porter/stout, which I'll tend to brew in the fall for winter/early spring. Big Belgians for next year, small ones for when they're ready. Saisons are so versatile, I'll brew a variety (high/low gravity, malty/hoppy/spiced/balanced) during the summer to last through the year.
