Hazy IPAs can die the firey death they deserve!

I expect a proper Cascadian to have two of those characteristics, roasty and licorice. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone has been turned off by the style if they aren't well made. Sifted through a ton of crap myself but adore the style when done right

My first wheat wine was from Smuttynose and it was terrific. Unfortunately it inspired me to chase some real crap ones as well

Dumb question because we should all drink what we like.

Sours are overplayed IMHO. I don't understand the hazy IPA hate. I find hazy IPAs to be excellent session beers especially when the ABV is over 8%, but that's just me.

If I don't like the style I don't drink it. Pretty damn simple. No need to get rid of a style just because I don't like it. In general I don't like sours, but lots of people do.

I agree with bradybeer, NEIPAs are just a fad, they all taste the same. When I first started brewing 20 years ago that would have been considered an inferior homebrew! I'll take a balanced, crystal clear beer over some of the crap that's out there now.

Fruit beers...hate fruit beers. Beers are supposed to be made out of grains, not oranges, cherries, and lemons. I would be happy if I never saw another one.

    IPA, IBA*, other hoppy brews.

(* India Brown Ale, e.g. the new Lagunitas-ruined Newcastle with added hops.)

I'm with you. There are styles I won't drink, but if others do, why do I wish they would go away? Besides, I may like them some day. Never thought I'd like a yeasty highly carbonated Belgian (too much like champagne, I thought), but I do enjoy them now. Having a hard time warming up to sours still.

Fatal flaw in wine... fatal flaw in beer. You score a 0. Good day sir.

While I agree with the sentiment, each of my local breweries just brewing the same IPA 5 times a month and changing one hop varietal and adding lactose is far from innovation. Also, when did lactose become such a sought after beer addition? I suppose lots of people like it or they wouldn't sell ‍♂️

I appreciate the history behind Gose as one of the few regional specialties to have survived the Reinheitsgebot, but I find it difficult to believe there is such a huge audience for it.

Also, if beer is meant to quench thirst, why add salt?

I agree with your opinion about fruity beers....don't fruit the beer...but just don't buy them. Others may like them.

I don't feel strongly negative enough about any styles to want them to fuck off. Milkshake is the closest, which I really dislike (pastry stouts, too), but I just don't drink them, and then they don't bother me.

Just think, if all of the "controversial" beer styles disappeared overnight, never to return, this forum would shrivel up! :stuck_out_tongue:

The salt actually allows for water retention, just as in Gatorade.
