Looking to brew something hoppy, but different from the normal IPA. I brewed an ESB earlier this summer with Styrian Goldings that I discovered are not Goldings at all, but rather more closely related to Willamettes. They were delicious and the Auroras are allegedly to Styrian Goldings what Centennials are to Cascades....if you know what I mean.

Anyone brewed with the Auroras? They are supposed to have a lemon element, but the last thing I'm looking for in this beer is Sorachi lemon.

Never brewed with it but I didn't see lemon in either of the descriptions I saw at Hopunion and Hoppris. Hoppris says similar but lighter aroma compared to Styrian Goldings. http://www.hoppris.com/node/12

I have used the Styrian Auroras in place of Styrian Goldings, and thought the result was not close to the Styrian Goldings which I like a lot.

Styrian Goldings are Fuggles grown in Slovenia. Willamette are a Fuggles triploid, which makes it more robust. All of these may share DNA, but location makes them different.
