As you may or may not know, Bellingham's nickname is The City of Subdued Excitement. I can now let a little secret out, my buddy Dave is opening a brewery her in town, Subdued Brewing. They're a long way off from brewing yet, but here's a quick update: http://www.bellinghamtaptrail.com/bellinghams-subdued-brewing-company-the-interview/?utm_source=Bellingham+Tap+Trail+Hikers&utm_campaign=4c4a3cdc37-SNAP-Subdued+Brewing+Company+-+The+Interview&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_95d3920d85-4c4a3cdc37-[LIST_EMAIL_ID]&ct=t(SNAP-Subdued+Brewing+Company+-+The+Interview)&goal=0_95d3920d85-4c4a3cdc37-[LIST_EMAIL_ID]&mc_cid=4c4a3cdc37&mc_eid=[UNIQID]
OMG, that's such a great name for a B-ham brewery. And I'm totally not venturing into that blue blizzard you posted. I could get lost in there!
And, the Subdued dudes had their first public meeting last night. Things seemed to go fairly well for them: http://www.bellinghamtaptrail.com/subdued-brewing-company-public-meeting-was-confetti-and-balloons/
I just hope they use a Hamster as a logo on their T-shirts: http://www.bellinghamherald.com/2015/04/02/4220992_return-of-the-bellinghamsters.html?rh=1
So what's going to happen to Giffords? I'm all for another brewery, but how exactly are they getting into that building without kicking the family grocery/corner store out?
I believe the lease is running out, and the folks who run Giffords don't want to renew. They're very nice folks, and the community really got behind them after he got shot during a robbery a few years ago. I went and bought a bag on M&Ms for $10, and kinda felt like a cheapskate when I saw what other folks were "buying".
Cool, thanks for the explanation. Just didn't want to hear the family was getting the boot, but I'm excited about the brewery. Only 4 blocks away!
