I had a BA Old Chub on tap at Bricks Pizza a few years, that was as good as a Scotch Ale gets. I've never seen it since, how perfect a marriage of a scotch barrel and a scotch ale.

An excellent beer that I have had and rated high. My only issue is finding it. Haven't seen it around in a long time.

Not a fan of Old Chub as it's just sweet, blah, cola-like, and not much else IMO. Dirty Bastard on the other hand is a damn good Scotch Ale and at a great price. I always have some of that on hand and its one of my favorite cigar pairing brews.

Still haven't found a beer like Karbach's Sympathy for the Lager. Lots of great pilseners out there, but that perfect mix of toasted malt Vienna lager style + hoppy pils? No dice.

No longer brewed: Firestone Walker Wookie Jack
Substitute (kinda): Eddyline's Black Eddy (funkier, different, but still... pretty close).

Lagunitas better find a good replacement for Lagunitas High Westi-ified 6pks. And no, Willetized doesn't cut it.

Absolutely. Every other beer in this style I've tried is forgettable.

I haven't tried it, but central waters has a barrel aged scotch ale. Their barrel program gets a pretty good rep on here, might be worth a try if you haven't yet.

@Bitterbill when Lagunitas stopped distro of new dogtown they released the recipe to homebrewers. I took a shot at it and was pleased with my results. Maybe an option for you?

Stone Pale Ale 2.0 (I realize I'm in the minority on this one)
    Lagunitas New Dogtown

High quality store bought pale ales are getting more scarce and hard to find with the NEIPA craze. I like some malt/hop balance every now and again. Unfortunately SNPA doesn't work for me that much.

I just saw new dog town Tuesday. Are you saying it was old? There were four 6 packs.

    Enjoy

Not sure if you can get it but

    Neshaminy creek jawn
Round guys fear of a Brett planet

Both are two of my favorite pale ale.

Both have some malt. SNPA does not do it for me at all anymore.

    Enjoy
