The best part is that you can buy all of the bruery's special releases. The worst part is that you can only buy bruery beers.

    Keep reading for context. . . (i.e. I don't use these figures unless. . . )

for once, i'm in complete agreement with beerandraiderfan here. especially on the "if you get a bottle for free, are you supposed to trade it for nothing?" point. we're all reasonable people. abacus/sucaba costs about $15~20. if i luck out and someone is like, "hey evan (pahn), here's a sucaba! drink it, trade it, i don't care," and i mysteriously decide to trade it, i'm trading it for $15~20 worth of beer. this is not because i'm a cut throat capitalist, this is because that's about what the beer is worth.

i'm not trying to feel comfortable with myself, i'm trading a beer that has a given price tag for something comparable in price. maybe i'd extra it off for free to the right trading partner or upon the right whim, but the bottle isn't worth nothing just because it was a gift. why in the world would that be the case? if someone paid me $10 to take their bottle of sucaba, does that mean i can make a thread "ISO: $10, FT: i keep my sucaba, which happens to be worth $-10"?

plus, trading should be a friendly business. if i were in beerandraiderfan's shoes, and someone was asking for my beer but suddenly chastising me for trying to short them $3, i'd be like, "thanks for your time! i'll be trading with someone else now."

Before I posted, I read your contributions and was like "damn, if that dude I always disagree with isn't 100% spot on here."

Cheers buddy. See you in a few years when we agree on something again!

Understood. My comments were simply made to voice my opinion on that specific topic.

^^^ Agreed. I think we've all had those beermails from people the day after you get back from a brewery only release hundreds of miles away

Unsolicited Request: Hey I saw you have ____, would you trade a bottle of ___ (shelf beer usually) for it?
Response: Sure, I've never tried that beer.
Request #2: Hey the beer you got was $3 cheaper than mine, will you add ____ to make it $4$?
    Response: facepalm

I have had people be weirdly stingy about the wrong things... don't tell me about tax... don't tell me specific details that are irrelevant. I know the shelf prices of what I trade away and trade for before I ever ISO or respond to a FT. Always assume shelf price, IMO.
