This will be my first year living in Chicago proper when Sucaba releases. Anyone recall how difficult it's been to find in the past?
In my experience, if you're "on it" when Binny's and other local shops that get the big Firestone releases gets their shipments, you should be fine. They don't sit on shelves for weeks but you can get them if you're paying attentiion when they hit Chicago.
Sucaba was tough to be sure (and @chicagoTC is pretty dead on), but it was nothing compared to Parabola, which lasted at some Binny's all of 20 minutes.
I agree with the above. Sucaba is a bit easier to find than Parabola certainly. This is likely due to BA stouts generally being more popular than BA barleywines. However, most stores only get about a case of it so it's still a quick seller generally. Good luck.
To the OP: Basically what everyone is saying is that if you're not following at least 10 different stores on social media and are willing to drop everything (yes, even your new born baby) at the drop of a dime, you're SOL. You could always chase trucks too. Welcome to "Chicago Proper." Good luck.
Thanks all. I've been through the BCBS wars and had some luck with Abraxas and Darkness, just wasn't sure on this since I haven't seen much other than FW's announcement. Happy hunting.
I'd guess early next week. It's at the wholesaler ready to go, mine missed today so i'd assume you'll see it in earnest starting Monday/Tuesday. Good amount of bottles this year, not so much draft tho.
Both South Loop Binny's and Binny's on Grand are sold out. Grabbed the last bottle off the shelf at Binny's LP about 30 minutes ago, but they weren't putting out more than 4-6 bottles at a time, so there still may be some sitting in the back. Doubt there will be any left by store closing tonight.
