Have any of you guys aged one over a year? Most reviews and/or people I've talked to have had year old or newer... Curious if I should keep this one going a little bit. Gonna pick up a '13 next week for safe keeping also.

Nah it wont. This year eclipsed the other two by a mile.
Iv'e bought about a case of each Abacus (11) and (Sucaba 12) and have been drinking them consistently since '11.
Sucaba 2013 is way way better now then the other two have been at any time.
    Drink it now.

I've been hearing that a lot. Might have to open mine up this month. Not necessarily a bad thing, I could use that space in the cellar for something else.

Well if its that good now, it might be that much better later?

I still have a couple form when they were called "Abacus" and three or four from 2012. Haven't picked up any 2013 yet. Not sure if I want to dedicate so much cellar space to just one beer! But it is a really good one...

    Yeah i was shocked too!
Actually the orig has Abacus lost some of the vanilla but the boose cooled and i still love it.
The 12 is good and also less hot but still flavorful. But was blown away by 13. its not very hot and the flavor profile is insanely complex. Except for a few one-offs this is the best beer I've had in 2013 so far.

Did anybody else pay $13.99 for this thing? I only bought one of them and I feel like everyone else paid $14.99+ so I should buy two...

I did the same exact thing. I found some sitting on a shelf covered in dust. Then found some newer stuff with the date on the box, and freaked out since the other boxes had no date. Glad im not the only one who did that.

    I have 6, 3 from '12 3 from '13. Paid 14.99 for the '12s and 15.99 for the 13s. The 13s were bought one per at 3 different stores.

Kinda pissed that so many people are paying 14.99 or 15.99. I paid 19.99.

In the past three years of looking, I've not seen ONE damn bottle until this year. And the one I picked up was one of only two left. Does Firestone Walker not liking sending this beer to So Cal much, or am I looking at the wrong stores?

I picked up 8 at $12.99. I'd saved up a credit at this particular shop too so 5 of them were "free."

sucaba/barleywine noob question. does everyone typically drink barleywines at room temp or do some of you drink it at a cooler temp and just let it warm as you sip?
