With no warning.... at least as far as I saw. Noticed 2 Untapped posts with 12 oz yesterday. Called reliable beer store today and they confirmed. I have not seen with my own 2 eyes yet though.
If true, I'd better call the hospital by me and tell them to save me a bed. My liver isn't gonna make it.
32 oz format was only worthwile for the first few weeks it was released back in September, then it became a high stakes shelf turd that wasn't worth touching. I think from a business perspective for Lagunitas, the 32oz release in September with the 6 pack release in March will provide some good financial data. I'm sure in the end, its safe to bet that a ton more volume (oz of beer) actually gets moved into customers hands in the 6 pack/12oz bottle format, but does the profit margin gains from the 32oz format (markup price per oz along w savings on labeling and material expenses) make it better off for Lagunitas's bottom line? Would love to have the ability to look into the books of Lagunitas accounting!
I still buy the sucks in 32oz if i can read the Julian code and it's confirms it's fresh. I reuse the bottles for homebrew, they work great!
Hnnnngg. Hope they make it to CT. I've yet to find one at any stores in my area with a readable code. Only go for it if it's in the fridge and even then it can be a bit of a gamble.
I never picked up a 32 oz bottle. Freshness was always an issue, I could never find a date anywhere. Also, they were a ripoff. I can pretty much get any Lagunitas six packs for $10 or less when on sale. The 32 oz were always in the $6.99 range. So over twice as much beer for $2-3 dollars more, that you don't have to drink in one session? uh no brainer!
If that's true, there's definitely more in my future. It's great stuff, but a full 32 on my own isn't happening and having it sit around until the right time to share doesn't work too well either. Bring on the 12s!
Problem is the code always gets wiped off of the bottle, and once that happens, you know damn well none of us beer nerds are touching that terd.
I like the way Lagunitas just does whatever the heck they want. Adds a lot of intrigue to the market. They provide so many "what the hell?" moments. Love me some Sucks!
