Has anyone else noticed these guys killing it with the dry hopped lagers? Drinking a Ripe & Ready right now, galaxy, denali, and melon hops. First started seeing this stuff from them with Original Tall Boy last summer which was (I believe) galaxy and citra. There has been a rotating cast of them around me lately and everyone I've tried has been delicious. I will be in a Davis for a weekend in August and can't wait to stop by their spot.
Every now and then I see fresh drops down here (Oceanside) of their IPL and a Bavarian Hefe that is delicious,.
They seem to be state wide. I'm 5 plus hours from Davis and we see it regularly. And I definitely agree with @Hoppedelic , they really taste more like what session IPAs have dreamt of being (of course they're usually more like 6% +). Great summer drinking
This is a very different Sudwerks than when I went to UCDavis (graduated 1996). The only thing we looked forward to was the annual Maibock. Otherwise no seasonals or one-offs.
This seems to be a very different sudwerk than just 3 or 4 years ago. Up until last year really all I ever saw from them was big format bottles of some of their stuff and 6 packs of their hefe, their pilsner, and maybe one of their other lagers. Their new cans have been genuinely exciting for me though, I must have drank a case of Original Tall Boy last summer and I have also seen they are doing the fruited kettle sour thing too. It seems like a good plan for a brewery that has been making pretty good lagers for a long time.
They really began evolving about 7-8 years ago when the brewery underwent ownership and brewing changes.
