Can anyone help me here. Maybe 4 or 5 years ago brewery in VT rolled out a beer that either contained maple syrup or the sugar maple before it was turned into syrup. I think it contained like 40% maple if I am correct. Was wondering what it was, who made it and is it still produced....THANKS!!!!
Lawson's Fines Liquids Maple Tripple is what comes to mind. They use maple sap instead of water for the mashing. They also make Maple Nipple although I know less about how that one is made.
It's only brewed once a year during sugaring season. Sean does hold some back for later in the year but it will cost you: http://www.lawsonsfinest.blogspot.com/
Also, if you're looking for more sap beer, make sure you check out Fiddlehead's Frog Run Sap Beer. Each year around end of June, they take the leftover sap and brew using sap instead of water. They host the Frog Run event and serve the beer along with music and food. Last year, a keg or two was sent to Farmhouse Tap & Grill after the Frog Run event. You can get pints at event, but no bottles (and I don't think you can get growlers, but I could be wrong about growlers). It's a great sap beer and fairly new since they've only done it the last 2 years. more info at: http://www.fiddleheadbrewing.com/previous-beer/frog-run-sap-beer/ http://www.vermontfolklifecenter.org/sapbeer/frogrunfest.php http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/...ng-tradition-Frog-Run-sap-beer?nclick_check=1 http://www.addisonindependent.com/201205sap-beer-makes-vt-comeback
