just thought I'd relay a recent experience with 20 West...
they shipped fast. really fast. Unfortunately there was zero notice that they had shipped. Basically I found out they had shipped when I got home and found the FedEx slip on the door telling me they had tried/failed to deliver.
Two days later I get a shipping notice from them. Cute.
The 4 beers I ordered were reasonably fresh, old, very old, and ridiculously old. However I assume if one is buying 3F from 20 West freshness is unlikely to be a problem.
Finally, for one of the beers they scratched out "6" on the invoice, wrote in "5", and shipped me 5. Not a single word of explanation, discount, refund, or how they'd make it up to me.

they haven't responded to any of my efforts to contact them.
anyway, just thought you guys deserved to know.

I ordered from them. Mostly FFF. They called me and left a message and said they were going to ship, but they ran out of something. I called them back and they said they found it and I received the notice that they shipped that evening via email.

Since it's mostly FFF, I'm hoping it's all fresh, but spthey don't have dates, so I guess I won't know either way.

Yeah, I had a similar problem in that they didn't give me everything I ordered and still charged me for it. However, when I contacted them they were quick to fix. I'm sure someone will get back to you soon. Is a bit frustrating, but there aren't many alternatives.

Unless recent is for at least two years then i guess they recently started shipping, because thats when I placed my first order from them...

    I've used:
bottletrek (pricy shipping, but OREGON beers!)
    Bruisin' Ales
    Let's Pour
    White Horse Wines and Spirits
West Lakeview Liquors (been a while ago like the previous post said)
Hi-time wine (I'm not sure they do much beer anymore) -website is screwed up the last little bit. Basically I use seekabrew to find out which breweries are available in state and do a search for them. I love some New Albanian and they are the only ones to ship them that I know of.

Does Halftime's freeship offer still work? I tried placing an order just now and it didn't work for me =(

I just submitted my order and it appears to have worked, but I had the code typed in for nearly a week now, adding and removing bottles. Not sure if that's why.

    Thanks Guys!

I actually didn't have enough # of bottles to qualify. I added a few more bottles and was good to go.

    I got the following:

    2 x 4-pack BCBS
1 x Drie Fonteinen Golden Blend (expensive I know!!)
    5 x Peche Mortel
    2 x Brooklyn BCS
1 x Ithaca Flower Power IPA
    1 x Founders Reds Rye

Free shipping makes it cheaper than trading for these

Any reliable place that carries and ships Pliny and Surly to NY? Or is it a crap shoot regarding in stock availability?

Beer Trader will ship Pliny but only 2 bottles at a time and I think they're out now. France44 sounds like the place for Surly, but I've never ordered from there.

Pretty sure no one ships to PA based on our insane laws. Where in PA are you? I get Lagunitas all year long , even the specials.

Although I assume there's a small degree of risk in doing so, several PAers in this thread said they've ordered from Halftime no problem. I just placed an order yesterday and it says it's been shipped.

I live in MA and a lot of these sites say they won't ship to MA because of our laws, now maybe from your guy's past experiences you may have a solution for me. If I ship it to my Aunt in NY, does it have to be me signing for it or if I pay for it and have her name on the shipping address should that be ok? I want to order some stuff and have my parents pick it up on their xmas trip but dont want to be out the money if it can't be done. thoughts??

I live in the Southwest (Albuquerque, NM) I just posted a thread asking anyone who would be interested in trading beer? We have some incredible breweries here that I know do not distribute in Pa. Three in patricular are the 2011 GABF Gold medal winning Elevated IPA from La Cumbre Brewery, the 2012 Silver medal GABF winning Marble Brewery Red Ale, and the 2012 GABF Gold medal winning Nut Brow Ale from Sierra Blance Brewing Co. I am looking for someone who is will to trade the Headhunter IPA (Fatheads) for any of these products. Yes I agree shipping is high, but I am more than willing to work with you. Please let me know. Thanks

I've missed the UPS guy twice now for my delivery from HalfTime. Hope to pick it up on Monday. FYI: I ordered like 36 beers and they still shipped. Grabbed a couple cases of Session (Red Lager and Fest), plus some singles we don't get in my area. $7/ea for BCBS is a little steep, but I'm looking forward to trying it.

Good to know. My order was 27 bottles total, but no matter what I did, the cart kept showing 24. I've noticed this happens when I add BCBS to my cart. No matter how many bottles of it I add, it only tally's one at the top. Bizzaro.

I've used Quality Liquor, France44, Leukens, Nejaime's Wine, and Holiday Wine Cellar all with great success, however it now seems Nejaime's no longer carries beer, sucks. I got last year's batch of Blasphemy from them before we could get in GA. I've done Let's Pour as well, but we can all vouch for their quality and speed I think. Leukens is awesome for Cigar City stuff but you have to jump on it quick, they sell out fast. Quality is good for most West Coast stuff it seems. I hate paying the shipping too, but I'm too damn impatient sometimes to deal with trading, not everyone is willing to play ball. I've got three trades 'floating' right now, awaiting responses but people don't always come through.

"How's about free shipping with 6 bottles?

Love this site. Free shipping, chance to win discounts (pretty sure you get $10 off first order with a new account), and the customer service is amazing."

I would have to disagree with Lets Pour customer service. I had a beer in my cart and when I was looking to get more beers for the six bottle shipping, it was ripped out. When I emailed them they said I used up my time of 15 minutes to order the beer. B.S. It was gone in under five minutes. When I responded to their email saying this was not the case they have never gotten back to me. So their customer service is crap. Just saying. There are too many other place to get beers from.

Customer service is all about your personal experience. No matter how good customer service for a company is there will always be someone who has a bad story.

Sorry to hear about what happened to you though, that sucks. My first experience with them has been phenomenal.

Most of the bottles they sell are already $3-$4 more expensive than anywhere else, so all they have done is built the shipping in to the cost of the bottles. Creative window dressing, I guess. If you order less than 6 bottles from them you are really getting ripped off.

France 44 and half time are good on line retailers but you will pay for shipping and then have to go to fed x and sign for it
France 44 had surly furious which was almost worth the shipping. But to get some harder to find beers you almost have to go on line.

Does Halftime send an email when they ship? Thursday the website said it had shipped, but I just NOW got an email saying three of my bottles were out of stock and I'd be refunded. A tracking number sure would be nice.
