I'm going to be staying on the north side of Brown County for a few days of mountain biking. It looks like Upland is the best option for a brewery along with a couple others in the area that don't really get raving reviews. What about bottle shops? Thanks in advance.
I like Sahara's (grocery store) on 3rd ave as my favorite place to buy from when I'm in town. As far as breweries Bloomington Brew Co (on 10th) isn't bad and would be worth stopping by. Big Woods in Nashville, IN is near by too. I've been told Yogi's is solid for a bar and Mother Bear's Pizza is excellent.
Places to Go: Nick's (An IU tradition/institution, good Indiana Craft Brews on Tap) Yogis (Great Craft Brew Selections accross the country emphasis on Indiana, always a Three Floyds Handle not the usual suspects) The Tap (Great beer selection, some of the higher prices in Bloomington) The Farm (Root Cellar - Craft Brews - Small Batch Bourbons) Upland (Go on Saturday get 20oz Pints for the Price of 16oz Pints) Big Woods (Brown County - Okay, nothing to write home about, but solid beer and above average food) Bloomington Brewining Company (Improving and evolving day by day) Sahara Mart (Bottle Shop 3rd Step - Be careful of dates) Big Red Liquors (3rd Street Location - Solid selection prices aren't as good as Sahara).
Yeah the fantome I picked up there was... Interesting. I need to find a place with fresh fantome to see what it really tastes like. But their prices are very very good. About 33% cheaper on some things. They had boulevard love child 3 for $16. Most places its $24.
Also, Yogi's holds on to kegs of IPAs for too long before tapping them. They also seem to have issues with keeping their lines clean. They do, however, offer 5oz pours of everything. This allows one to sample a lot of beers. It is a love/hate thing I have with them.
Indeed. Thumbs up to the 5oz pour action. If the Tap offered the same option, it's doubtful I'd go anywhere else.
