Can anyone suggest a great place to get great beer in Milwaukee? I'm new to the area and going to my beer savvy buddies place for new years and want to bring something special.

I'm into fresher hop heavy pales, and he's into deep complex boozy malty bigguns.

    Thanks!!!

Hello and welcome! Discount Liquor is a good start...also, there is a place tab on the tap of your page, if you click that and toss Milwaukee into the city category....Lots of good options in Milwaukee. Have a good new years.

    Yeah go to Discount.

Also do me a solid, while you're there, run across the street to that music shop and find out if they still have that solid black Fender Jaguar. Thx

Another place to stop is Three Cellars in Franklin, stop in there on a Saturday between 1 and 3, they have tastings going at during those times. Three Cellars sells Black Husky Brewery stuff (see link http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/23018), I have not tried it but they have a Sproose Joose Double IPA. But you cannot go wrong with Discount.

Woodman's - huge selection and almost all of their craft beers are in their football field long cooler

I travel to Milwaukee on a somewhat regular basis and have never been to anywhere other than Discount and I've never felt the need to go anywhere else. Great selection.

@ Don. You haven't tried Sproose joose? I dropped some off Thursday. I used some spruce off of our Christmas tree for that batch. and it wasn't an artificial tree.

I have been wanting to try but 3 cellars is a bit out of the way for me. Do you have anything else heading down to three cellars?

Nope. that's our only bottle outlet south of Green Bay. We hate bottling.
