I have to go down here from work. done some research on the site seems rather dead. is it worth it to take a ride to Shreveport or Alexandria. Have a rental car just need some suggestions where i can get a good beer or some good bottles to drink back at my hotel.

I would not know. But some of the c-stores around Monroe carry a few locals such as Bayou Teche, Covington, Abita and Lazy Mag. Up north in El Dorado, AR you could pick up Diamond Bear forom Timberlane Wine and Spirits.

The beer scene north and south of baton rouge is light night and day. Here in sound LA, the beer is booming. New stuff comes in all the time and there are plenty of craft beer bars and stores. It's another story in north LA. The beer that is available up there is marginal compared to here. You may be able to find some local stuff, but I wouldn't expect much else. I don't think I trip to Shreveport would yield any better results.

Head east and hit up Delta, LA, the last gas station before you gross the MS river has an AMAZING selection of beer. If you're up for it keep driving to Jackson, MS where the beer culture is thriving! There are always beer or food events going on and the beer people are top notch!
