Hey, guys- I searched the forum and didn't really see what I was looking for and was hoping for some guidance...

I'm heading out there this weekend (Thursday-Monday) and was wondering if there was anything particularly interesting, made locally that I should be on the lookout for. Special Releases, etc?

Seems like Swiftwater should be on my list of places to check out, but are there any 'must-see' breweries/beer bars that I should be making my friends take me to? Not sure how much time I will have to peep your scene so I want to make the most of it...

Also- I wouldn't be opposed to an IP trade or two, as I'm flying Southwest and planning on taking full advantage of my 2 free checked bags :grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning:

I don't know of any special releases, but Tap and Mallet is always a great place to start for a beer bar. People are usually helpful and can guide you to other places you might enjoy. Also the Old Toad is probably been the longest in the scene and usually has their beer menu online. They can also help you out.

Nothing really to add here, but I will deinitely second AJ'S Beer Warehouse (you should be able to grab some Singlecut there) and Tap and Mallet (Grimm should hit upstate today, so you may find Tesseract or Psychokinesis on tap)

Damn, I'm late to the party here. I would have mentioned MacGreggors Tap Room.. over 100 beers on tap! Anyways, hope you enjoyed your stay here.. Out of curiosity, where did you end up going?

I wouldn't have suggested that one- there's a ton of taps, but it's super expensive, and they tend to do a really bad job at cleaning their lines, and leaving old beers on. The Henrietta location, which I assume you're referring to, is a minefield when it comes to the tap list.

It wasn't exactly what anyone would call a 'beercation', was just wondering what direction folks would point me.

First night, we ended up at Dicky's where I had a Singlecut half-stack, which was ok (no idea how the homers on this site give it a 92, but whatever), and a Galaxy Andromeda IPA, which was excellent! Tried something from Swiftwater there, but it was clearly infected and they bartender said they had already contacted a rep from the brewery who was trying to resolve the issue.

Took a drive down to Two Goats on Friday. That place was incredible and easily one of the best breweries (at least, location-wise) I have ever been to. The panoramic views from the deck were great as was the overall vibe of the place. The Goatmeal Stout was really tasty as was their dopplebock. The tasters I had of several of the other brews seemed well executed. The highlight of Two Goats had to be the roast beef sandwich- pretty much made my trip!

Otherwise- I didn't do too much else- stopped by AJ's and was highly impressed with the selections there. Prices seemed normal to a little much, but I stocked up on some of the local and regional offerings unavailable in CO.

I've never had a problem with their price, even when I was a broke RIT student lol. I have noticed their lines aren't the cleanest, but I wouldn't consider them awful. You're correct, I was referring to that location. I haven't been to that one in over a year though, since I moved closer to a different location (Gates). Had KBS on tap there, and it tasted great.

Seneca lake is an awesome drive, good call checking out the finger lakes. I've never been to Two Goats, but I've been to most of the wineries around there on a wine tour.. it's a beautiful location. AJ's the the store to go to, so it seems like you did it right.

Also out of curiousity, did you order a glass of water at Dickys? They used to not even give out free tap water ($1 bottles only), so I'm wondering if that's still the case.

    Hahaha no I didn't.

Do yourself a favor and take a cruise out to Two Goats. You won't be disappointed.
