    Not sure how available it is in the Chicago area, but I personally really like everything from Jolly Pumpkin. The Ban Bier and Bam Noir are both great and not bad price wise (in MI I can usually find them for around 10 bucks for a 750ml).

    I totally disagree with petrus - that beer is hugely overrated and not good at all IMO.

    I recommend trying to find a gueuze or Flanders red. Any gueuze you find should be a nice start whether it's Boon, Hanssens, Cuvee Rene, Girardin, etc. Just avoid the regular lindemans gueuze. For Flanders red, you can't really go wrong, but Jacobins Rouge is my favorite. Rodenbach and Duchesses De Bourgogne also make great examples. Cheers

    Just to be sure-- you're talking about the Petrus AGED PALE, right? The other beers I've had from them have been really mediocre to downright lousy.

    If you are talking about Aged Pale, then I must ask;
    Really? It only has an 89 rating... I rated it much higher:

    I didn't like their Oud Bruin but that Aged Pale is one of the best affordable sours out there.

    Surprised no one has said Orval yet! (Granted, it's not a true sour but so are a lot of the other beers being mentioned, but it's pretty easy to find and relatively affordable, and ages well for years)

    I'd consider all the brews mentioned to be sours, but certainly not Orval. It's not even in the ballpark.

    EDIT: Except some of the JP brews.

    So I did not notice Petrus at FLBC but I didn't ask either because I walked out with a Rodenbach Gran Cru, Hanseens Kriek (havent had a kriek yet), Lindemans cuvée Rene, SN Brux, Alesmith IPA, FW Wookey Jack, Pannepot, Duchess de Burgoine, 2 Peche Mortel, Fullers ESB, JP La Roja, GI Sofie, 10th Ann Ruination. Solid Haul I'd say. Do far I am through the Fullers am Brux. Trying to figure out what's next.

    They don't have the aged pale currently though.
