Suggestions for tasting (Michigan)

So much to choose from..... but I'd certainly put Bell's Two Hearted on the list, and add anything from Short's since your out-of-state friends won't have much opportunity to ever try their stuff. If you want a unique beer from Short's, the Strawberry Shorts Cake is hitting store shelves this week, although it will sell out quickly.

 

If in West Michigan, Tapistry Brewings 100 Watt Amp Kicker flys under the radar and is still a pretty easy find. People also seem to enjoy Neapolitan Milk Stout from Saugatuck Brewing Company quite a bit

If the issue is just that they want to contribute you could tell them that you have more than enough beer and it would really help if they brought some frozen pizzas, cheese, crackers, and cookies like Nilla wafers.

 

Have them drop by Warrenn, MI and get a growler of Kuhnhenn DRIPA

 

There has to be something that pairs with KBS other than frozen pizza and nilla wafers

 

Where in MI do they live? That may help out with available suggestions.

 

This thread is making me want to host a beer tasting. Lots of great ideas in here.

I second Mothergoose's suggestion of Short's Strawberry Short's Cake. That would be a great curveball to your solid lineup of beers. But as MG stated, this beer will go fast but it is being released to most shops this week. I talked to my shop and they are receiving it today.

 

Good point. OP tell those free loaders that homemade tiramisu is the new price of admission!

See if they can grab some growlers from local places with no distribution or that doesn't distribute all their beers, kuhnhenn, griffin claw, and royal oak brewing, maybe even get some new breweries in like ROAK.

 

I agree with local growlers and Strawberry Short's Cake. Also, if your dad feels like driving down the lakeshore from Pentwater, Greenbush in Sawyer is having a pub-only bottle release of a BA raspberry ale today.

 

Seeing as your brother is in Howell have him stop in at Eternity. I've not been but a beer guy I work with raves about this place. Also in the area you've got Witch's Hat, River's Edge, Block Brewing, and Brewery Becker.

 

Lots of options at Jonna's in Howel. They are a tad on the high side for price, but they'd have stuff to bring. They had Big Bad Baptist on the shelf last time was there, as well as a huge bomber selection. Just thinking of what I saw there, even though it was a bit ago, that people seem to mention on here.

I've been up to Pentwater, not a whole heck of a lot going on up there... But I don't know where the destination is for the tasting, but if they were coming down the shoreline, could swing into Our Brewing in Holland and pick some stuff up. I was just there Friday, good stuff and no distrubution. Or stop in Grand haven to Odd sides and get some of theirs.

 

Anything by Shorts since they're not distributed out of state

Also, + 1 for Our Brewing. I live 5 miles from them and they get better and better everytime stop by.

 

Does Odd Side have distro around Michigan, or is it pretty much in Grand Haven only?
