I racked a blond ale to the keg last night. Burst carbed it, went overboard.... Here is my problem, it is a pin lock keg with no pressure release. Every time I try to release some co2 on the gas post it goes beer super soaker on me. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have some company coming over for the football games this weekend so the quicker the solution the better! TIA
It sounds like you filled the keg to the top if it is above the gas post. I think you are going to have to deal with a little beer in your face. When this has happened to me, I put a dishtowel over the gas post and then vent the co2. You will get beer everywhere, but it won't spray you in the face. Ideally, it won't take much for the level of the beer to drop below the gas post. hope that helps
Ok now I'm confused. Let off what seemed to be at least two pints and the beer was still coming. I didn't think the keg was excessively filled to begin with. Had to give up and go to work but damn I'm pissed.
Are you sure you have the two diptubes in their proper sides? Test this by depressing the liquid side poppet. If nothing comes out, you have them reversed.
Thanks @VikeMan for diagnosing the problem and proving my idiocy. My simcoe/mosaic blonde ale is ready for the Pats to stomp Terrell Thugs and the Ravens. Go Pats!
