I may be misunderstanding here, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but are you suggesting that the release events are controlled and set up by Goose Island? Certainly there are exceptions where this may be more or less true in states where AB owns the distributorship, but I am fairly certain that the retailers selling the beer are the ones responsible for setting up these release events.

Or are you just suggesting that they change the hard Black Friday release date in general? That I could get behind. At least in my market, there are many accounts that will wait a week or a month to release the beer, just to avoid the craziness of the people making their rounds on the day of. These places also tend to do a quiet release so their regulars can have a chance to get in and get some.

 

drop the single, mandated release date altogether. doing so will leave them options to push back releases in the event issues arise. doing so could also remove some of the sort of grey or shady market aspects too. the idea of merchants selling before "the official release date/time" etc. would disappear from the convo.
