Logan Square Draught Beer Preservation Society "March Fourth for Froth" 2020.

This was an intended e-mail message for the Chicago Beer Society listserv. (Yes, it is still around. Although it is also in the terminal spiral.) The e-mail annotating the route for March 4th was circulated.
But this summary was not. I insert it here on Beer Advocate.

I should report back on what I did on Wednesday evening.
All things considered, it went O.K. The only venues where I had company were Merchant, The Rocking Horse, and The Owl. To rank the venues:
    1) Crown Liquors
    2) The Rocking Horse
    3) The Harding Tavern
    4) The Owl
    5) Merchant
There were a number of venues which were kept off this crawl. The area around Logan Square has blown up with beerworthy shops. Breweries such as Hopewell, Bixi, and the original Revolution locale were categorically excluded. A hybrid such as Emporium Arcade was precluded for having no draught beers. Whiskey or cocktail bars, even if they have beers on draught, such as Billy Sunday, or The Whistler, were also pruned. Any number of bars continue southeast on Milwaukee Ave., extending to Innjoy.
Your ranking of these bars may vary, depending on which day of the week you pop in. Wednesday is the day almost all of the draughts at Crown Liquors sell for $4.00. Wednesday is $6.00 burger night at the Rocking Horse. Every beer on draught there is less expensive than the lowest cost beer at Merchant. Conversely, Tuesday is the night draught beers at The Owl are discounted.

This did not occur in 2019. I prefer to believe that March 4th, 2019's predicted high temperature (9°F) was the main culprit. Nonetheless, the Logan Square Draught Beer Preservation Society dropped the scepter. I deigned to pick it up. If it desires to run 'March 4th for Froth' in 2021, it does not require my approval. I hasten to utter that I do not typically care for pub crawls. But this one has the heft of history behind it. I like history.

My my my. Look at the date of the preceding post. :open_mouth:
How things have changed since then. :scream:
There certainly was not a "March Fourth for Froth" pub crawl in 2021.
Contemplating that the Logan Square Draught Beer Preservation Society was in intensive care on a ventilator in 2020, and got only three crawlers for portions of it, I can solidly scribe that it has now died. :sob:
It should also be scribed that two of the five venues visited in 2020 have closed permanently.
In too many instances, movements dwindle and ultimately fizzle out because not enough people care about them. They lack the perserverance and discipline to accomplish their mission.
As a final image of the society, here is the photograph referred to above on a more stable image host. [IMG]
