Summer of Pumking...

    Just curious...did Southern Tier release a butt load of pumking lately? I see it everywhere in the last few days...

    Hmm I haven't seen any but if so, this is the most premature release of a Fall beer I have ever heard of. Usually the bitching about these premature seasonals starts in August (myself included) but this would be ridiculous

    Don't think so. See a lot on L.I. leftover from the fall. Saved one to age a year and see how it does.

    It was impossible to find around here when I was looking, but it has almost got to be leftover from last year. Some city/cities did not like the Pumking.

    Yeah, no that should be from the previous year. Check the date on the bottle—last season they'd already started dating, so they should be there (I think). Right now I think they've been busy releasing the latest Oak Aged Unearthly and Plum Noir. I'd be shocked if Pumking was already out, both for the obvious reasons and because I think I would've seen something on their facebook page by now if that's what they were up to.

    I travel a lot - and ive seen it in FL and upstate NY a bunch lately to be specific...

    One of my local shops has seemingly had a continuous stack on the floor since last fall. I'm assuming it's been the same few cases but the price has not been discounted so you've now got me wondering if there has been a lack of turnover from the fall or a more recent re-stocking with a new batch. Definitely seems early.

    yea..
    Ive had the Oak aged unearthly twice and got 2 different experiences. At tap and mallet in Rochester, NY it was awesome. At Kickbacks in JAX Florida it stunk! (its the beer karma gods telling me to drink Cigar city when in florida I guess)

    who cares...Pumpking is gross....Southern Tier is releasing a Pumpking Stout this year. I forget what they're calling it, but it;s part of their Blackwater Series.

    I do enjoy some Southern Tier now and again, but when in Florida, drink Cigar City . . . or in any other place it's available.

    Sounds like the distributor unloaded inventory on the local bottle shop/retailer - shame on the retailer. (Or it could be a potential fist pump for you if you try it and really like it.)
