“I'll add Stoudt's Karnival Kolsch as a good summer option …” Good choice! I drank a Stoudt’s Karnival Kolsch yesterday as I watched the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New Jersey Devils. Karnival Kolsch is an enjoyable beer!

“Is there such a thing as an affordable, excellent saison?” Not that I am aware of. My ‘answer’ to that problem is that I homebrew my own Saison beers. For me, even a four pack of Hennepin is pricey.

    Cheers!

A good reasonably priced Saison is New Holland Golden Cap. It is a seasonal that is available now (release was March 2012). Unfortunately for the OP, New Holland is not distributed to Louisiana.

    Cheers!

Alaskan Summer Ale is pretty widely available and affordable. It gets overlooked but it's one of the best examples of American-brewed Kolsch I've had.

No such deals in Minneapolis (unless you work for the wholesaler, winky wink)
About the nearest would be Bit 'tallboy' cases at $20 (in-code). Of course, there's PLENTY of past code beer of all types that will make the summer fly by like a bucolic, post-Grad School afternoon.

I'll splurge and get a case of fresh, local Hefeweizen; if only I could remember who made one...

Unfortunately for the OP, Alaskan is not distributed to Louisiana. It does reach nearby Texas though.

    Cheers!

I saw it at Trader Joe's yesterday but I didn't buy it. It's still kinda cool on Long Island.

Geary's Summer is an underrated kolsch.

Anchor Summer, Weihenstephaner Original, and Cellar Door will be today's shopping cart.

    Thanks all...

I like Victory Prima Pils or Weihenstephaner Hefeweiss for a good summer beer.

Narragansett Lager, the BEST Adjunct American Lager. Great on a sweaty summer day. Honestly, I am biased being from RI.
