Hi all, I'm in the market for a built in kegerator, preferably panel ready so that it looks seamless in the wet bar where it will be installed. I have only found one that meets these requirements and the price has me questioning the quality but I can't find a single review. Here is what I found for just under $1300: https://www.summitappliance.com/catalog/model/SBC635MBIIFTWIN A couple of questions: 1.) Would you feel comfortable with buying this without reviews? Any experience with Summit appliances? 2.) What are my other options? I thought about just getting a mini fridge and converting it but even built in mini fridges are pricey ($900+). Thanks for your help!
Summit is a decent brand and this is a pretty top end model with a lot of bells and whistles. I might suggest looking at a more affordable keggerator and attaching a custom panel to the front. It is a tricky project but for an $700 savings, it might be worth the risk to allow you to customize what the panel looks like anyway. If you are looking for all the features (digital therm etc...) you should stick with a panel fridge. Note that the model you are looking at does not always come with a panel but some online dealers do provide one at the same price. You need to shop around.
Thanks for responding. I really don't need the bells and whistles. Being a built in is the primary requirement and being able to attach a panel is a big plus for me. Based on my quick browsing it seems that the reason itnisbso expensive is less because of the panel and more because it's a built in. Can you recommend a more affordable built in?
From what I can see, if I remove the panel ready option I'd go from just under 1300 to just under 1200 for another Summit. Does that sound about right?
