Oops. Looking forward to it regardless, it's not a style that's in my regular rotation.

I do wish that SN made that beer yearly though, it was awesome.

Just picked up a six at Zipp's. I was really disappointed with my first sip, but as it warmed a bit, it got better and better. I'm loving this beer! I think if you like the style, you'll really dig it.

Agreed! I love that Summit mixes it up and doesn't feel it needs to go huge every time out. My favorite unchained is still the kolsch. There is no shortage of stouts, barley wines, etc. What other American brewer is making a dunked weizen? Have I mentioned that I love this beer?

You nailed it. This beer tastes sooo much better at or near room temp. Really enjoyed it overall as well.

Had a couple of these over the weekend. Very good stuff- not quite Black Wheat caliber, but still good. Surprised the color was similar to some of my homebrew before its clears. Turbid amber/brown.

I love a good Dunkel Weizen, and will be sure to try this. Any chance you could talk the brewery into making the Imperial Pumpkin Porter into an annual release? That beer was great.

Its a great version of the style. I will buy a few more sixers this season to put in the cellar!

for sure! I've got 3 cases of the dunkel cellared along with all my Abrasive and my Hopslam. My 2 year old daughter is going to love them when she turns 21!

Then again what is Black Wheat caliber? One of the best wheat beers made in the U.S......of course that means they decide not to brew it any more so all we have are the memories..

Picked up a sixer when it was released, a great beer to drink 2-3 of anytime of the day. I was deinfitely impressed as not too many brewers outside of Deutschland venture to do this beer. GBGrinnell, I would be careful about how long you cellar your Double IPAs for, your daughter may be slightly disappointed if she isn't turning 21 anytime soon. BTW, this is my first post, nice to be part of the community, cheers.

I got a 6pack of the Dunkel Weizen directly from Summit (they offered me a free 6pack in exchange for some spoiled Black Ale) and it was nothing I would ever choose to drink again. I'm not the biggest fan of wheat beers but I like a few, and this definitely isn't one of them. Shared one with a friend and he wasn't a fan either. If you like dunkelweizens then have a crack at it! But I personally wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Good to know you don't like it... I think it's pretty good, not many dunkel weizens out there and a good choice for unchained #9, something different.

I think it's nice to see when people don't like what they try. Sometimes you'll get an overwhelming majority of people saying they like something and you try it and you hate it. It's rare if you know what kinds you do/don't like, but I just thought I'd offer my opinion. On a sidenote, I got some Horizon Red Ale and Great Northern Porter while I was there too and all of them tasted off. I doubt this is any sort of bias, as I used to love Summit and either their quality has gone down or I've had better beers since I first tried Summit. Either way, wish I was more of a fan, now I have 5 of these taking up space in my fridge. Suppose I could take them out.

Not a fan of weiss beers, the bananna esters really throw me off. Love wheat beers, hate weiss yeast. If I can find a single, I'll buy it...but not a sixer for the same reason.
With that said, weiss beers can make for some good eats, so try cooking with 'em. Steam some mussels!!!

The quality of Summits beer has not gone down. You just don't like what they brew, which is fine, we all have our preferences. Personally, I love Summit.

Summit EPA was one of the first craft beers I tried, and I loved it! There was so much flavor! Now it's just... bland... malt and the slightest hint of hops. Maybe I just don't drink it very much anymore and I haven't gotten good batches since then, but either way I still prefer other beer to Summit now. Used to love their Porter as well, now it just seems too smoky to me.
